If I have misunderstood or exaggerated the scale of what actually happened, I apologise. In researching the links above, I see that most people relied on their fists, or stuck to flags and posturing. But, as far as I could see, there is plenty of reporting that some people did bring weapons into the Capitol itself, several others clearly intended to bring much more in, and there were explosives in and around the area. So in that sense I stand by my claims, although the overriding point is that, for a period of several minutes and up to a few hours, the Capitol was completely vulnerable to any attack of any kind whatsoever. Just because, this time, that threat didn't materialise doesn't reduce the fact that it could have, and that is more than troubling.
