//"Why is Gromit going around this site posting spurious nonsense and not posting a link? "// - that's what he does, have you only just spotted that?

No, but it seems to be reaching greater heights of late.
No. It's not the first time you've decided to deliberately misread my posts that were absolutely *not* letting China off the hook as meaning the opposite. I objected in the past to calling it the "Chinese Virus", but that's not to dispute the country of origin.
Jim, //It's not the first time you've decided to deliberately misread my posts//

I don't 'deliberately' misread anything - and I resent the implication - but since I'm not alone in thinking you were letting China off the hook, perhaps you should look to your own style of writing. Your problem could well be found there.
Didn't we name SARS after Zaire? (I may be making that up). I don't think referring to it as a Chinese virus causes misunderstanding.
There’s no (sensible) suggestion that this virus was passed to humans by people eating live or especially dead animals.
So at least the guff about filthy eating habits should be laid to rest
No pixie, it’s an acronym
I meant the proper name, zacs? I may be wrong. Will check x
What proper name?
I'm not ignorant of the importance of self-evaluation, but I've noticed a common feature of those people who keep misreading me, and I'd suggest that's more at play here. People who regularly disagree with me are, I suggest, more likely to find cause to even when it's not there. Take, as an example, dannyk's bizarre decision to brand my suggestion that Thatcher might have been able to respond to this crisis more effectively than many PM's as "typical of [my] political allegiance", which makes exactly no sense.

No, what I was saying was clear here: this virus came from China, the next one may not, and it doesn't do to focus on what they were doing if we ignore our (and, again, by our I don't mean the UK, I mean humanity in general) own deficiencies in animal husbandry.
Ironically SARS is its own worst enemy: it’s just too darned deadly. That’s really the problem for us with Covid-19: its affects are so mild in most people that it gets spread unwittingly mighty quickly.
Would be odd to name SARS after Zaire when it, too, came from China. Maybe you're thinking of Ebola?
Apologies, it's Ebola named after Zaire.
Mad Cow Disease being one example.
Yes... x
It’s named after the Ebola river in DR Congo.
Jim, //I've noticed a common feature of those people who keep misreading me, and I'd suggest that's more at play here.

What would you suggest is at play here? According to you you’re regularly ‘misunderstood’, so conspiracy theories aside, perhaps it’s worth seriously considering my suggestion.
What I suggest is at play here was literally written down in the very next sentence...

I'll continue to do my best to make myself clear, but I'd also suggest that maybe you ought to be less quick at jumping to the most negative possible reading of what I'm saying.
jim/naomi get a room for gawd sake!
Oh, you noticed?

I'm bored of it too, TTT, but I'm not going to stop defending myself from undue criticism.
Jim, //What I suggest is at play here was literally written down in the very next sentence... //

You've lost me.

TTT, you post what you want to post and leave others to do likewise.
