Looks like the flat pack is collapsing, first closure of a UK branch. Have you ever purchased from them?

I agree with YMF. We bought a set of drawers for our utility room to put kitchen utensils in. Every time I look at it I think it could of been bought from MFI. Cheap tat.

Never a big fan, but have bought the odd item, some good stuff, but also lots of junk to a degree, you have to be very selective.

I’m going to Ikea Southampton in the half term so as long as I can get a good supply of parring knives and sandwich bags I’ll be fine lol

I've fitted a couple of their kitchens.
Excellent quality for the price. No problems with them.

When hard flooring seem to get more popular years gone by, they did have a good selection of rugs at very competitive prices compared to other stores, not been for a long time so not sure if they still do.

I bought a couple of bedside lamps in Ikea many years ago. Much cheapness and they are still going strong. Gave them to my daughter who then passed them to her brother some years later. One of them is still in my grandson's bedroom. It must be 30 years old.

It's a shame about Ikea. Some of their stuff (and yo have to be careful what you go for) is OK. But their stores are just about the worst shopping "experience" known to man. They are labyrinthine messes which, one in, you cannot get out of without visiting the entire store on a pre-ordained route.

I visited one once. Never, ever again.

We have a couple of their large billy bookcases in blue, very sturdy and we love the colour. Also have a number of kitchen utensils, some of which are years old and still going strong. And some folding kitchen chairs we had for 25 years and only got rid of because we redid the kitchen.
I don’t think I’d furnish an entire house with their furniture but I do like lots of their stuff, mind you, I love Scandi style.

Can it be that all Ikea branches are not the same? I've visited three different ones over the years and each one had swinging doors located on each level so that you don't have to traipse through the entire place to reach the exit.

Most of our furniture is an eclectic mix of second hand or junk shop finds. The only new furniture in 48 years has been beds or sofas and one made to order huge chest of drawers just a few months ago.

Vagus, the next time you visit look to the left as you enter each department, there should be two swinging doors, usually painted white, which enables you to bypass the department you're on and go on to the next section.
