The arrogance of the Westminster dictators knows no bounds. Now with a parliamentary majority the tories feel able to do exactly as they please. The most recent statements are chilling if you are a democrat. Quote "it does not matter what the people of Scotland want" and
"it does not matter how the Scottish Parliament votes" we will ignore them and do what we want. They have the same reaction to the Northern Irish and the Welsh. They act like colonialists rather than partners in a union of equals. However the brexit train will hit the buffers when trade agreement terms are dictated and determined by the big boys - USA, EU, China and India. Little England will be exposed.

The Scottish indyref was supposed to be final.
of course it doesn't matter how the Scottish Parliament votes.
Why the heck should it when they use parliamentary time to debate lowering, or not, a flipping flag which has no relevance to the UK.
Don't usually take part in such threads, but I'm going to break the habit, just for once.

" what the people of Scotland want"

& what the SNP want are not the same.
This was voted on in 2014.

Please put it to bed
That is democracy. We elect bunch of people and then if there's enough of them to form a majority they as they please.

It's better than having a bunch of people in charge that you didn't elect but they still do as they please.
All this anti-English nonsense will make you ill, son. You need to get over yourself.
good day Rich, how are you...
//All this anti-English nonsense will make you ill, son. You need to get over yourself.//

Aye it’s alrighty to be anti-Scots, anti-Irish, or even anti-welsh if it pleases you, but being anti-English will make you ill.
Braw
i have always had a lot of stick for being English, mostly from Scottish friends...
//" what the people of Scotland want"

Yet they increased their number of seats at Westminster last month to 47 out of 59, and keep getting the most seats in the Scots Parliament by a fair bit.

Aye, and rightly so ;)
The government is the UK government Rich, the clue is in the name. They don't care what my high st wants either, they govern for the UK. Scotland have already had there referendum. It's not "little England" me old china, if anything it's "little" UK. If get your way it'll be Microscopic Scotland, do you want that?

Hi emmie, you have never had stick from me for your Englishness.
Some others wrongly assume that to be pro Scotland means being anti English. Wrong!! Perhaps we should just revoke the 1707 Treaty of Union.
Oh dear, a cross Scotsman who doesnt like or understand the democracy we have.

The Scottish were told it was once in a generation vote. A generation has not passed yet and as referendums are very expensive (I doubt the wee lassie will let Scotland pay for it) there is no need to give you one. Try again once the generation is up, if the answer then is still the same maybe you will have a point.
Hello Rich, good to see you still post. I know i haven't had stick from you, you always seem polite but forthright in your views and i respect that
The Scots Government paid for the last referendum so why would they not pay for a new one?

Maybe you should rethink this "union of equals" fantasy rich47, perhaps this may help

Scotland perceives itself as more important than it is. In terms of population it's smaller than Yorkshire. There are other parts of the UK that voted Remain or voted other than Tory overall but they can't all expect their region to be allowed to remain in the EU or to claim they shouldn't be ruled by a Tory government
"The Scottish were told it was once in a generation vote."

Were they? Who told them that?
