Well, leaving out the spelling mistakes and typos
( of which we are all prone to) This issue has nothing whatsoever to do with immigrants.

The Minimum wage, although fought tooth and nail against by the Tories, is now seen by most people as a Good Thing. The Tories even expanded on it, under Gideon, so get off your "socialist" high horse.

But I will agree with your comments about the lazy dole bludgers.....no work, or training, no money.
TTT - you stop giving them money and they start breaking into your house to get it. They're at home when you are out at work or driving one of your cars/motorbikes.
TTT...have you changed to extra-extra-strong tea bags today ?
Mikey, he's poor he gets 3 cups from one bag.
and smokes the rest after he's dried it out.
Yes. It should be implemented using the existing income tax system. 100% above a specified figure.
60% I was going to say.
Mamy/Alba...don't ...I now have Earl Grey down my favourite T shirt !

I am surprised by most of the answers saying "No" . Perhaps a lot of you are in the million pound a year category and at such a figure are well set-up for a 199 years.

Hans.
OG - it's be shown time after time that making the top tax rate too high just persuades people to move abroad and then you lose all their tax.
Hans....I think most of us are sympathetic to the feeling of your post but we think it would be impracticable.

i see bhg, we must give free money to WSS lest they burgle our houses! right oh!
TTT - that sums it up. How else are they going to find money for necessities like ciggies, booze and gambling if we don't give them benefits?
err, get a job??
what you are proposing, bhg, is Dane Geld and we know how that ends up! PMSL!
No. If a maximum were imposed no one would go the extra mile.

OG, //It should be implemented using the existing income tax system. 100% above a specified figure.//

See above.
TTT - I wasn't proposing anything. I was just pointing out that actions can have unintended consequencies, so you have to be careful.
I have no personal evidence for tis but I was told several years ago that the Swiss have very low unemployment which is achieved by finding menial work for unemployed people; such things as Stop/Go boards, instead of temporary traffic lights. This has the advantage of costing less, cutting crime and making the people feel useful. Winners all round and they have a very low crime rate. Now that's a system I would propose.
^Splendid idea! I've been saying that for years!
sounds great bhg, if they can be forced out from the 60 inch plasmas. Sadly we would no doubt be in contravention of their ooman writes or some sh1! I applaud the initiative though.
The Swiss have quite a reputation for their low crime-rate but it seems that it's suffered with the influx of people from Eastern Europe; even though they're not in the EC they do allow free movement across their borders nowadays.
About 20 years ago we were in Switzerland and decided to drop in on some people we knew who were living there. We found the house with children's toys in the garden, windows open but no sign of people about. Seeing a neighbour we asked if he knew where they were and were told they'd gone to England got a fortnight to visit parents. We pointed out the toys and windows and he couldn't understand what the problem was - why wouldn't you go away and leave the windows open?
