With Labour a complete shambles, isn't it time for Nigel Farage to return to the fray?

Eddie, //Even a lot of the Tory party are saying that Labour has a better idea than their own 'leader'. //

Who are all these people?
Question Author
^^ Could it be Kenneth Clarke? the man who stood alone :0)
"Who are all these people?"

Probably Clarke and Anna Soubry (aka "the most irritating woman in politics").
Nooooo newjudge. The most irritating woman in politics is Diane Abbot.

You're a long time coming up with those names Eddie, are you sure you aren't a victim of 'fake news'? - there's a lot of it about.
"The most irritating woman in politics is Diane Abbot."

Can't agree, cassa. Abbott is just dopey and probably knows it. Anna Soubry thinks she's bright and makes sure everybody knows what she thinks. Mind you, they may shortly both be usurped by Emily Thornberry.
The most irritating women ever , ever, ever in politics,
would have to be Thatcher and May, they should have stayed with the kitchen cabinet.
UKIP supporters remind me of the Jehovah Witnesses in many ways. The JWs have been predicting the end of the world for over a century, and when that date finally comes, they invent another date. Ditto with UKIP....any day now, they are going to elect another Leader and make that much predicted comeback.

UKIP are dead in the water, and they are never going to come back, but Farage might.....back in the Tory Party from whence he originated.

If they will have him, of course !
Mikey, haha! That has to be your worst nightmare! He scares you.
//Thatcher and May, they should have stayed with the kitchen cabinet.//

So speaks your typical leftie ladies. Dinosaurs.
Gulliver is full of smart little snippets, isn't she? Not much else though. That's where her political prowess appears to end.
"The most irritating woman in politics is Diane Abbot."

As we are now onto a much more interesting topic, Thornberry is up there for me, but Andrea Leadsom gets my vote (narrowly ahead of the Hoey). It is a little disguised fact that the parliamentary Tory party did an expert hatchet job on her by ensuring her name never got to the party members in a leadership election. The tories may also have a rubbish system of electing their leader but at least they avoided the disaster Labour failed to.
As a point of clarity - Labour are proposing to keep Britain in the EU’s single market and customs union.

Can anyone explain why these are bad ideas?

I can understand Brexiters wanting to wrest control from Brussels over border control and EU laws (and to a lesser degree, the ECHR) - but what is so bad about being part of a massive trading bloc and free trade agreement.

I really want to know what Brexiters have against this.
Gulliver....ignore the personal comments and insults....your contributions are as valid as anyone else.

But beware of our right-wingers.....they are still smarting about Labours success in June, and Mrs Mays corresponding lack of success.
I fear common sense normally goes out the window when this subject is discussed. Anything less than David Davis and his merry band sticking a bomb under the Channel Tunnel is seen as a sellout to the will fo the people.
And what is this for Labour: a disaster because the Great British Public are going to rise in fury at the sheer bloody cheek of not going for a bling Brexit or
a cynical route to electoral triumph ;-)
*blind Brexit, not "bling"
tho come to think of it ...
LOL

These discussions always amuse me.

LAbour lefties are convinced of Brexit doom and just can't bring themselves to say anything constructive.

But TBH we would expect nothing less. After all on the other foot is the opposite thing.

Having taken instruction from JW in my time I can say the Labourites are much more like them in attitude of accepting verbatim the teachings of the party and idolising their leader.

Mikey, //they are still smarting about Labours success in June//

They lost. Really, they did.

sp; //As a point of clarity - Labour are proposing to keep Britain in the EU’s single market and customs union.

I think you have got the horse before the cart there. Brexit isn't about 'getting out of the single market', it's about regaining British sovereignty, getting out of the Brussels dominated EU and freely trading with the wider world.

Leaving the single market and customs union is an inevitable consequence of leaving the EU.
Is the question on keeping Britain in the EU’s single market and customs union for real ? Have folk forgotten so soon the four impostitions ? Free movement of goods, people, services and capital ? The first is worth having as it is part of the free trading we are aiming for. The third is debatable but arguably similar to the first. But the other two are just destruction of a country's right to control it's borders. People means no control over immigration and a population already too large: no ability to improve one's citizens' lot without loads arriving saying,"We want a slice of that", and spoiling whatever had been achieved. Finance means you can not encourage wealth extracted from your country's citizens, or created in your country by your citizens to remain here improving the lot of those here: some merchant can just grab it and take it elsewhere leaving the country worse off as a result. There has to be sensible rules/restrictions so that a country can look after itself from the efforts of it's own citizens, and not simply used for the advantage of multinationals.
