If they were to get their wish for the whole council to resign, what then?

Morning mikey. "IMHO Mrs May should now appoint a Whitehall Team to take over every aspect of the Councils duties, and every Council Member should resign with immediate effect." Who would be willing to go on "any team" that would have to face the wrath of the residents in their present mood? I wouldn't......would you? The residents would only accept...

At the very beginning of this tragic event I wondered why Mrs May did not call on the army for some help.

Can you imagine the further unrest if she had?
Sqad...yes, on that I agree.

Ric.ror, curiosity gets the better of me, what would you expect The Army to do?
// Who would be willing to go on "any team" that would have to face the wrath of the residents in their present mood?//

what is this ? Sqad - in the sixties when you were in the real world - and a nurse or orderly said - oh that bedpan - I'm not gonna clean that - it is really smelly !

you said - yes of course my dear quite understandable
didja ?

they would be civil servants - and they would be told - "go in and run West Ken - no one is doing it ar present"
and the civil servant smelling a lovely bonus and a gong and a large pension - would say 'Yes Sir !' How long for ? TYes sirree minister !"

Now look for a moment at Cornwall -
Chmn of the county council down there at Coverask the day after
directing operations -clucking and 'being there'
men with shovels - shovelling

what a difference !

and nothing that west ken couldnt have done over the last 4 weeks
Balders....The Army are very good at organising things !

Mikey & Ric.ror, curiosity gets the better of me, what would you expect The Army to do?
Balders...still not sure, but the Army's famous organisational skills might have come in handy.
I don't think anything will appease them.
These are people who have lost everything, they are in mourning over the loss of their home, friends, neighbours, family.

In times of great tragedy, people look to 'leaders' for help/comfort/assistance and to me it seems, none was forthcoming.

After almost 20 years as a RM I know how effective The Services can be, I was just wondering what Role you envisaged them taking on.
Peter.......that's it!
All that was needed was a platoon of bowler hatted, pin striped suited Cornishmen shouldering shovels approaching the "towering inferno" singing Colonel Bogey and all these aftermath problems would have been avoided.

"SEND IN THE MARINES"

Isn't that call enough Baldric? :0)
These people are rightly angry at the situation they find themselves in. It was after all not of their making so I do have a great deal of sympathy for what has and is happening.

I also think that they won't be happy with the council until they have a recognisable face fronting it. I don't know who that would be but the 'face' of the council should be something near to what the residents want/need.

However any team that is parachuted in or enlisted should be a good mix of backgrounds. You do need sympathetic people but you also need those that are able to distance themselves from the emotion of it and be able to deliver results.

The residents are hyper emotional at the moment and they do need someone to rail against and someone to calm them.
I thought that many of the 'protestors' behaved very badly. Since when has behaving like a yob been the best way to right wrongs?

I don't think that they will be happy until persons of their own culture are in power, so as to address their own particular needs.

One reason why multiculturalism does not work.
// Since when has behaving like a yob been the best way to right wrongs?//
for how long - for how long.....

since you are burnt out of your flat thro the landlords negligence.
and they go home for the week end because they have one and you go out onto the street....

altho I have to express surprise that 100 residents saying
we dont want that flat we want something else....
//One reason why multiculturalism does not work.//

yes exactly - if only we had voted to remain then none of this would have happened. Mikey do you want to add a tag about 'JC' ?

to makes up a trio of complete non sequiturs

/// since you are burnt out of your flat thro the landlords negligence.

And what would your solution have been?

The landlords spend the weekend with the residents? I can't put "out on the street" because they were offered temporary accommodation.

Or the landlords take the residents back to their place for the weekend?
A magic wand is needed here!!!!
The army could use the skills they have obtained in Afghanistan where they built whole villages (albeit canvas) in days. They have many other skills through their work in disaster situations too. If nothing else it would have been better PR for Mrs May than doing nothing
