Is JK Rowling a dame now?
I enjoyed her books but ....
I've said this before. I don't agree with well-paid people in the arts getting honours for doing their job. Similarly, sportspeople receiving a further medal for winning an Olympic medal.

Having said that, I think Judy Murray deserves her OBE. She's not just the mother of our greatest singles and doubles tennis players, but does a lot of work in encouraging kids to get into the game for fun.
I agree Jo, Judy Murray is a great advocate for children/tennis.
J K Rowling - Companion of Honour on top of her OBE.
I should imagine they did, 237......still leaves him a crass and ignorant man.....
What was in his head that he thought he'd make folk laugh.....laugh?....by getting on stage and taking the mickey out of a man who was waiting to be beheaded and making cheap cracks about his wife......

One of the least deserving of this honour ever.
You know what they say - "Critisize the behaviour, not the person"
*Criticize*. One day this website might catch up with the rest of the world and have an edit facility.
At this rate F.Boyle will be gatting a knighthood for services to comedy next.
Jobbies. You've got to laugh.
Dame Julie Walters.

AT LAST.

Very pleased at that. Very pleased indeed.
well I can only go by personal experience, shared an Hotel in Tyneside with Billy for 3 nights, he was doing his show in Newcastle and travelled alone, he joined my party (on a residential course) for dinner and breakfast every day and a blether at nights, a very very nice man, very humble and down to earth, his humour is very Glasgow and perhaps some folks just don't get it at times...
It's like the scouser's Murray, you have to know their humor.
indeed ..Glasgow and Liverpool very alike in that respect..mum's a scouser !
A lot of people get their gongs for charity work - which we don't always know about - as well as for whatever it is they do.
Come on now, Minty.......I spent long enough in Corby to experience Glasgow humour.......I get it.......
I don't get a man who is so far up himself that he thinks he can use a dreadful, ongoing situation to try to get a laugh......and rather than realise imediately that he'd blown it he abuses his audience??
That really is not Glasgow humour....x
Sir big gun, just doesnee sound right
Gun?? Big yun
