Because she's the PM and has far more important things to do. Besides, why should she waste her time trashing Corbyn? He can do that all on his own.

Well said Jack, and so true.
she has nothing to prove really... who needs debate ? as Jack has said Corbyn has not exactly shone and would in all likeliehood come out worst against such a good orator as May....irrespective of politics..
Because she may have trouble keeping track of her lies when live on TV?
oo Douglas...that's a bit underhand, she is clearly sick and tired of all the squabbling going on, an election will assert her authority and she will be able to shut the dissenters up......and get on with carrying out the Nation's wishes !!
Perhaps she couldn't stand the embarrassment of seeing JC and Tim nice but dim being crushed?

In addition it is extremely unlikely JC or TF will win, therefore they can say pretty much what they like.

Personally I am glad this US import has been stopped, hopefully forever.
Clearly, that'll be it. She's just sorting out the office :)

I think she is frit !
Precisely, ymb. A recent US import which only goes back as far as 2010. Painful to watch, degrading to those who feel compelled to participate. Anyway, I don't see what Mikey is getting all het up about. If TM descended from the clouds and scattered diamonds to all and sundry he would still vote Labour, so why does he want a debate?
// Well said Jack, and so true.//
how true ! how true !

now getting back to real life - on the Good Wife - Eli ( alan cunningham - oldham boy playing new york WASP) says the front runner never goes or offers tv debates because for him the only way is down .....

the underdog goes for debates ( see JFK, Salmond etc )
Question Author
I can only imagine what the response on here would be if Corbyn refused to take part in the debates !
// A recent US import which only goes back as far as 2010.//

so true so true ! ( balders)

Oh I love AB - yup teevee debates date from 2010
and the late fifties black and white disasters between JFK and Nixon -well not a disaster for JFK - were something else

Nixon's jowl wasnt painted out - and he looked shifty and people asked each other " would you buy a second hand car from this man?"

Nixon later said to the press pack - you aint gonna have Nixon to kick around now.... as he was gonna give up poiitics

but he was baaaack ! 1968 and the rest is history

I often see televised debates between May and Corbyn, he makes a *** of himself most of the time ... hence the diminishing support for Labour.
Mikey, as a labour voter all my life & with respect to J.C. do you honestly think that this bloke has the ability to run this country, I cringe each time I hear this bloke come out with such C---P, I think David Mill should return, at least he had the ability to take sense.
erm....

now getting back to real life - on the Good Wife - Eli ( Alan Cumming - Aberfieldy boy playing New York Jew) says the front runner never goes or offers tv debates because for him the only way is down .....
I thought it strange she isn't willing to debate live on TV,I think she lacks the confidence and experience, at PMQ.she never appears comfortable, she replies to any question in a shrill voice and can't wait to " get back to her seat" and not if any eye contact with the questioner . I don't believe she is a natural leader.

TWR...Labour have some good policies and its my firm belief that its is still the best Party for the working man to vote for. Perhaps people should listen to what the Party is saying, rather then get drawn into personalities.

He was interviewed yesterday afternoon on the PM Programme, and he gave a good account of himself, and Labours policies.

The parlous state of the NHS alone should get Labour some votes.

But JC is the Leader, whatever else we might want.
He loves campaigning does JC . I suspect he's quite happy about the prospect of an election. Maybe happier than the Tory MP next door, as the Lib Dems will be hammering on his door :-)
she doesn't need to. Very wise.
Question Author
If these debates are now part of history, then I for one will won't be sorry.......they were just a polite slanging match and didn't really achieve anything.
