Mushroom, I remember that speech of Heath's. Toe-curling doesn't even begin to describe it, it was dire. It should be made compulsory viewing for all students of French on how NOT to speak the language.
Herr Flick was hilarious imo.

RIP Gordon Kaye.

Quite a lot of the cast have now passed over:

Gorden Kaye
Caarmen Silvera
Rose Hill
Jack Haigh
Kenneth Connor
Richard Marner
Sam Kelly
Hilary Minster
Arthur Bostrom (Crabtree) was in Father Brown last week - haven't seen him in anything for ages.
Here's a list of his work since 'allo, 'allo:

I was sorry to hear this, I loved the programme. RIP Gordon.
Arthur Bostrom was in Durham (university, not prison) at the same time as me though I don't recall ever meeting him.
I didn't always watch the programme, but the writing was excellent and the delivery of the lines excellent - he was a very talented actor.

One of those you think you'd like to have met.

RIP Gorden.
Very funny show.
Was never a fan of his TV work.,but in fairnss he was 75years old, hardly a premature death. But very sad for family and friends.
I can remember him from his time in Coronation Street when he played Elsie Tanner's nephew.

R I P Gorden Kaye, Hello Hello was one of the funniest shows on TV at the time, and am still laughing at the repeats being shown now.

(Mikey, last line in OP, it is Gorden.)
I always liked Madame Fanny La Fan.

Ah, ze flashing knobs!
Loved the show and Gorden played the part excellently. RIP Gorden.

/// I wouldn't have thought it possible for anybody to make the Gestapo remotely funny, no matter the undoubted quality of the comedy performances. ///

Charlie Chaplin even made Hitler funny.
My father had always told me that Gordon Kaye died in that massive storm which happened in 1987, so before today I honestly thought he was dead.

RIP Gordon (again)
Chaplin made Hitler funny but later said it was because he hadn't known the full truth about the death camps; if he had done so, he said, he would never have made The Great Dictator.
Mel Brooks made Hitler funny.
He certainly had a road accident and it was touch and go for a while. There is/was an estate agent in Suffolk called Flick and had to restrain OH from going in asking to speak to Herr Flick, bet they never heard that before.
RIP Gorden.
