Zacs-Master - //I think i have to side with AOG at this juncture. What are you on about Andy? //

let me boil it down to one simple point -

The thrust of AOG's point is 'cultural differences'.

He has, as usual., derided my illustrations, but my point remains valid. From what we know, this couple have been born and raised in the same country and culture - the only 'cultural differences' AOG can assume are based entirely on the skin colour of the gentleman in the story.

There is a word for that attitude.

And like others, I am waiting for these constantly trumpeted 'cultural differences' to be explained and illustrated - in order for me not to think that they are a figment of AOG's imagination.
AOG - //Pardon me if I inject a little common sense here, maybe they are from the same country, but for example there are Pakistanis in this country also, but our cultures are miles apart. //

yes but we are not talking about Pakistanis in England, we are talking about a black man in America, so your analogy is baseless.

Let's not over-assume based on the evidence, but I would be wiling to bet that this young man did not disembark from a banana boat last week, so I think his 'cultural' assimilation can be taken as read. I bet he speaks English and uses a knife and fork and everything!

Always best debating practise to express your thoughts succinctly and clearly rather than waffling about irrelevancies which your 'opponent' can pick on to avoid answering the question.
New Judge

/// There may be DV amongst mixed race relationships but there certainly is in same race relationships as well. ///

And I have never said any difference Judge.

I only mentioned the 'Few' mixed relationships that I personally know of, but as you are most likely to know, one's words can be taken and used to suit some types of ABers argument.

Same race relationships were never mentioned because this thread was about a mixed race relationship, but that does not matter to some, they made the comparison themselves, so let them carry on an play their silly games.
rockyroad - //What do I think of all this?

Its a spoilt white princess trying to be rebellious. She will get bored and when the hoo ha dies down will tearfully make up with rich mummy and daddy, get her car keys back, go to college and eventually marry a nice white middle class boy nd have nice white middle class babies //

If they make cynicism an Olympic sport, I am backing you for a gold!
'one's words can be taken and used to suit some types of ABers argument'

And one's word's can lead to the request for an explanation. Which is oft ignored.
AOG - it's funny how when you are losing an argument, everyone else is 'playing silly games' isn't it?

Why don't you answer the repeated question about 'cultural differences', because otherwise, people will think you were talking through your hat.
Z-M - we cross-posted but I can see we are after the same response here - but I am not expecting anything to be honest, except maybe a 'I don't have to have my responses dictated by the likes of you' - or something similar.
In fairness to aog, some black Americans do make efforts to cling to their African heritage, and that does produce some cultural differences. It would be disingenuous to deny that. However, in the main I think most live similar lives to the rest of America – and I think it would be disingenuous to deny that too.
Anything would be better than nothing Andy. It leads me to suppose that AOG hasn't got multiple reasons why interracial relationships don't work, but just wont admit it.

Z-M - I am somewhat less generous - I think he has just one all-embracing reason, but he will never say so - at least not on here.

Your even-handedness is to be admired, but in the absence of a response to the contrary, I have formed my own view of the root of AOG's 'cultural differences' mantra - and I suspect others have done so as well.
DB 'That'll be the white one, won't it'

Would it....why?
No divebuddy it would be whichever my child wanted not what I wanted!!

We can want the best for our children but at the end of the day we should not attempt to live their lives - they have to be allowed to make their own decisions right or wrong.

The role of a parent is to be there to be a shoulder to cry on IF it goes wrong.
Zacs-Master

Try changing your bait Zacs, but I must warn you that even then, I am too smart a cookie to take even that.

DB - I might toss a coin.
divebuddy

Wow don't ask them to make that decision buddy, you know as well as I do which one they would pick, but they wouldn't like to admit it on here, in case they were called a racist and a bigot.
why is it obvious DB. Please verbalise your thought process.

AOG - there is no 'bait' just a desire to know your 'many' reasons why you believe interracial relationships don't work.
