ANOTHEOLDGIT, I think you are a wee bit confused. You ask why windscreens are so large if only a slit is required. If you put your face up close to a wall with only a small slit, you can see through it fine because all the liIf you stepped back from the
Ignore that, pressed enter too soon.
A token gesture which could well pass on to other cantons.
It appears that the Swiss have no love for new asylum seekers which will include more Muslims.
One Canton Mayor paid a $30000 annual fine not to house 10 asylum seekers whilst a Muslim group are offended by the Swiss flag and what it changed.
If France and Belgium can impose the law then it will, no doubt, spread quite easily through the rest of Europe ' like a contagion'. Now where have I heard that expression quite recently?
If your face is flat against a wall and you are looking through a slit or two holes where you eyes would be, you will see the same as you would were that wall not there. If you stepped back, your vision is restricted because the angles have narrowed.

The same applies to those who wear face coverings with the eyes visible, they can still see as much as if they were not wearing the covering and their abilities to drive safely are not affected.

Obviously you have never heard of tunnel vision and the adverse effects it has on driving capability!

Clearly you cannot differentiate between a tunnel and a slit. Tunnel vision relates to peripheral vision and unless these women also wear blinkers, how would they be affected?
Well, we shall have to wait and see whether other Cantons take up the very brave decision. Meanwhile, elsewhere in the world, Antartica has banned the wearing of sandals and the National Parks authority in the US has banned the wearing of deep sea diving outfits in Death Valley.
What are you trying to prove?

Quite wise. I was not aware that persons were compelled to wear such apparel in these two locales!

Those rose tinted specs of yours must be an asset to you, with or without a burka.
Staying with the vision analogy, perhaps you should remove the blinkers you wear?
Maybe all drivers should undergo a field vision test wearing various types of headgear?

I see people driving with jackets hoods up etc - not much difference.

AOG, re you only requiring a 'yes/no' to your earlier question - I don't think it is as simple as that, so my answer will have to suffice.

As a non driver who would have had to have handed her licence back in by now anyway if I had one, I don't feel I have any qualifications to speak for others.
I have mixed feelings about the identity issue and the muddled perspective regarding helmets/balaclavas in the UK.

However the ladies I have met who wear the burka in their country of origin appreciate it keeping their clothing free from dust and the household staff valued the security it gave them when working for International workers. None mentioned their husbands enforcing the wearing of the burka.
Retrocop's above link is also interesting - it may sometimes be awkward to explain new sights to a small child but I have always found a way and tailored it to the age of a child so they are appeased.
My mother never mention my father not letting her go out and enjoy herself or the fist that blackened her eyes ... they don't, they are conditioned.
Absolutely if subjugation is hidden then we don't know and that has to be tackled from within, with help from outside organisations if at all possible.

I'm just not sure banning is the solution.

And I am not asking you to, just as I would not expect you to vote for others.

Still waiting though for the yes or no votes from certain burka supporters.
