Strange how a couple of days ago some were saying there is more to the EU vote than just immigration, but now having lost the vote out comes their immigration race card.

I can start making some white hats if it helps?
With big brims?
I'll send her beyond the Antonine Wall.....just to make sure!

Goodness only knows, Talbot.....I have asked her but she is Glaswegian so I couldn't understand her reply! :o)
I actually believe the worst danger to our Country is young ignorant callow youth who are given the vote too soon!!
These kids are so ready to label me a xenophobic racist for my current stance on immigration. Most are ignorant ,left wing indoctrinated by their teachers and ill informed. Ask them who Winston Churchill is and they tell you it's the dog advertising insurance on Tellie!
Ask them who Idi Amin and you will draw a blank from them.
Well my generation recognised and accepted willingly the truly persecuted and 'Genuine' refugees who were persecuted by a black despot!!! They and their families still thrive and prosper in the UK.
They are still grateful to our country and us 'racist old xenophobes'. We are older and wiser to remember who are genuine asylum seekers and those sub saharan Africans who are opportunists pretending to come from Syria and await in Calais, using extreme violence to invade our Sovereign country.
I resent being labelled racist because I know what real humanity is and what is best for the UK.
It's sad that you have only come across that section of young people, they sound very judgemental.

Maybe they shout the loudest?

Many have a good grasp of the history and what their elders have done for them despite their short time on this earth.

Yes many are disappointed at this outcome, but hopefully when their time comes they can strive to make things better.

Ignore the minority who are rude and ill informed.
They are not all ignorant, Retro, and they don't all label people.

Stop making out our young, and I'm talking 6th formers plus, are stupid.
I resent being labelled brainwashed just because I disagree with you.
//Ignore the minority who are rude and ill informed. //

If they will let you.( see aog's post ref. London protest)
And the other side of the argument never protest?
If I see a skirmish/protest or other disagreement in the street I would likely walk away.

In the same way if I read something here that makes me shudder, I move to another thread and that is often - not sure how many are from 'young' people or what we are using to define that age group.
There are no more nor no fewer racists now than there was before the referendum. Similarly immigrants are no more nor no less in danger either. But there seems to be a lot of irrational fear that there is. I'm unsure how society deals with that.
Ummmm

" I voted in because holidays will go up if we leave" A young girl probably under 20yrs.

"I voted in cos European roaming charges will go up when we travel abroad" Another very young girl of voting age."

Two Indian siblings interviewed in Departure lounge at Manchester Airport on morning of the result. Both from Birmingham,
Brother voted remain. Sister voted out.
Girl was quite distressed she had voted out when nothing at all had been announced except the result. Before even Cameron's resignation.
She did not know why she was upset but would vote to remain if given a 2nd chance tomorrow""
Oh For Funks Sake do we need kids like this who are too dumb to know their own mind and forge the destiny of the country they reside?

Your kids may be worldly wise and have a better knowledge of UK politics and Constitution than mikey professes to have. For every ummmm child I guess there are three such as above and that worries me
Indeed, mamya.
As a longtime ABer, I'd say that the group on here who appear to be the most obstreperous, argumentative and sulky are those I believe are in the middle-aged and above age-group, and predominantly male.

Tin-hat at the ready.......
That is why the age to vote is 18, rather than let kids of 16 and 17 get swayed by nonsense and threaten ruining an election. Not that there aren't folk around who'd like to see votes made a mockery of like that.
The group of Mums were standing near the till, I was a few feet further away, but they were talking so loudly that everyone in the shop could hear. The shopkeeper was very well aware of what they said.
But what really put the lid on it was when one of them asked him for cigarettes on credit, I was appalled by what they said and waited until they had left to apologize to the shopkeeper , he was not noticeably upset and told me not to worry. I am in North Herts just near the South Cambs border.
Yet your views on the Scots in many posts retrocop are exactly that; are immigrants safe, is that a question asked in a 1930's German accent I wonder, makes me laugh. One mans patriotism is another mans racism- what a crazy time we live in

A tin hat will avail you naught, JTH. Time to go to the concrete bunker.
Retro...I do think the voting age should be raised. Along with marriage and driving.

But there are many very savvy teenagers out there and when you're a mother of a nerd you get to meet them.

(the other two are lovely but...)
