The second was posted on Friday. So the current situation would seem to say that he has now changed his mind ( again )

I really don't why why they (the "accused") or anybody else worries.
Being "dragged" before a Commons committee is no big deal.The committe has no powers of prosecution or no sanctions to invoke. In fact, apart from making the MPs feel important (and probably providing them with a small stipend) as far as this sort of thing goes the committees serve no useful purpose whatsoever.

Yes Mikey, but I'd far rather see him face prosecution for failing to pay the minimum wage (if indeed that's what he's done). This "Commons Select Committee" is a farce. The Committee was designed to investigate the workings of government departments, not to examine the misdemeanours of individuals.
I must say, and I'm not usually a fan of people who took advantage of the climate Labour created to make a fortune, the more I listen to that hearing, the more I think, Ashley hit them out of the park.

I don't agree with you about these Committees....they have become a very important part of the business of Parliament. I am suggesting that if he hadn't have been asked to appear before the Committee, he may not have been as open and honest. Of course, the media have been very assiduous in the investigations of Sports Direct as well ( the BBC or CH4...I am not sure which)
Its going to be very interesting to see how Green handles himself when he appears before the Committee today......I wonder if he will be half as open and honest as Mike Ashley !

At 09:00 the MPs will hear from Darren Topp, chief executive of BHS, and Richard Price, former chief executive of the chain. Mark Tasker, Eddie Paladorio and Stephen Bourne, all from Mr Chappell's Retail Acquisitions consortium, are at 10:15. Dominic Chappell then appears at 11:00.
