Apparently this is not the first time that Britain First has been chucked out of Leicester, but this time they had returned for a spot of Brexit campaigning on Saturday and set up one table just to handout their leaflets.

/// City mayor Sir Peter Soulsby told Britain First chairman Paul Golding head to head: "This is a multi racial city and you are not welcome here. ///

/// "I have a mandate from 77,000 voters and I say on their behalf, leave Leicester." ///

Would that be the whole 77,000 Sir Peter?

/// Hospital worker Noormohammed Geloo, 23 from Highfields said: "All people are welcome in Leicester as long as they respect one another. ///

That is so accommodating of you Mr Geloo.

/// Plumber Ali Akbar, 29, of Belgrave Road, who also challenged Mr Golding face to face, said: "I have a white auntie. The vast majority of Muslims love this country. ///

Ah yes that old one again "some of my best friends are white".

Mikey, once again you play the “race card” and describe people as “the nasty party”

Have you ever investigated these nasties further?

Whenever we have a general election, I always make a point of reading the policies and proposals of ALL the parties. Yes, even Labour. (Well, we all need a good laugh from time to time).
Perhaps if you knew some of the BNP policies you may acknowledge that they are not all about race, creed or colour.

I have chosen one policy from each section.
Yes, maybe I was a bit selective, but I wanted to use the policies which would appeal to more people.
No, I am not a BNP supporter, but I do think that a lot of what they say makes sense.
Neither do I support BF, but I would happily take a leaflet from any one that offered me one (that’s offered, not tried to force me to take), even if it did end up in the nearest bin.

Health:
Halt privatisation, the NHS will remain a cherished public-owned institution under a BNP Government.

Immigration:
Deport bogus asylum seekers and foreign criminals immediately.

Economics:
Ensure globalist corporations pay their share of the tax burden.

Foreign Affairs:
Maintain an independent foreign policy of our own, and not a spineless subservience to the USA, the ‘international community’, or any other country.

Environment:
Create Environmental Courts with powers to investigate and prosecute fly-tippers, bushmeat importers and commercial and industrial polluters.

Housing:
Create a massive building programme for low-rent social housing that would both create jobs and new homes.

Education:
Restore authority to teachers and head teachers.

Crime & Justice.
Put police back on the streets and remove their current political correctness shackles.

With such attractive sounding policy examples why is it that they do not resonate with the British public?

Most people will not even be aware of these policies because of their reputation. In other words, they may well have just used a fag packet...
"But at least we both seem to be against the rise of the Ultra/Far Right, which is the most important issue I guess."
"Golding can't get himself, or any other member of his party elected, anywhere."

It follows then that, given your specialised definition of the term, the Far Right in the UK is no threat at all, doesn't it, Mikey? So why do you keep on about it?
Maybe because there are other policies that were not cherry picked.
Because, agchristie, most people cannot and will not see beyond the "racist" label.
And because, unfortunately, they do tend to attract some very unsavoury types.
As I said, OG, I chose those policies deliberately, to show that it's not all about race, and there ARE policies which will appeal to others.
There should absolutely be nowhere that Britain First should be banned from, as long as they behave themselves and act responsibly.

No town or city should be off-limits to political discourse.

Paul Golding over-stepped the mark by saying that BF should leave.

I believe that BF should be given as much publicity as possible. They should have every opportunity hand out as many leaflets as possible.

I would welcome them coming to the Notting Hill Carnival in August.

I'd also like to see them organise a similar protest in Brixton...because BF Are definitely not a racist organisation as we can see from their website where they are pictured smiling and even making physical contact with people of varying shades of brownness.

http://www.britainfirst.org/racism/

Wasn't Paul Golding one of those asked to leave?
Pete Soulsby was the mayor
The Ultra Right always fail in this country....perhaps because there are not enough racists to make a difference.
------------------
As ever mikey you're confusing fascist thugs with an ever increasing section of the population who have very legitimate and worrying concerns about the total lack of immigration control in this country.
@ chill

It seems mightily singular that to some, the profile of one who has concerns regarding immigration control must be that they are all current/ex football hooligans...
Bigbag....how is referring to a Far Right Party as "nasty" possibly be construed as playing the race card.

This party, is racist, as the BNP and the NF were before it. You appear to have made quite study of their policies, so I am at complete loss to see how you missed the racism.

Maybe you should do some more research. You could start here if you like ::

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Britain_First

I echo agchristie's words ....if BF are so terribly nice, how is that they have next to zero support in our elections ?

vetuste_ennemi....So why do I keep on about it ?

I was responding to AOG's thread..... exactly like you !
ah mikey, wikepedia -

that doyen of accurate reporting that would have you believe winston churchill is alive and well and living in the village where they used to film Last of the Summer Wine....
Mush....I have no reason to doubt the veracity of Wiki....perhaps you are getting it mixed up with the National Enquirer, which often tells us that Elvis is still alive and working part-time in a Walmart somewhere ?

What exactly in the Wiki entry for BF is incorrect ?

Is it the bit that says it was formed by former Member of the BNP ?

Or perhaps that it was created by Jim Dowson, who ran a call centre in Dundonald, East Belfast, for the British National Party ?

Or that it is inspired by Ulster loyalism and has a vigilante wing called the "Britain First Defence Force ?
i don't know.

all i know is my daughter (and her colleagues) were told at uni that if they cited wikipedia as a source for any of their referenced facts, that would constitute an instant "fail". something to do with the ability of practically anyone to edit anything.
Mikey.

It’s Bigbad, by the way.

Your post at 14.47 mentioned racists.
I have no more studied BNP or NF, than I have Labour, (In fact, I couldn’t have told you who the BNP leader was before today), but I just wanted to point out that they have other policies which could appeal to lots of people. I thought you may approve of some of them, particularly the one on housing. (I don’t agree with it).

As you say, BF are not nice, and I don’t suppose they are on too many ballot papers, (I don’t think we have any representatives in my area). I watched a documentary about them a while back.
The woman (Jayda someone?) lived in fear of her life, and fully expects to be killed because of her beliefs. Then about two thirds of the way through the programme, decided not to take part any more.
They had no proper policies, and were not my idea of a credible party. All reasons why they have no support in elections.
I hope you noted my lack of support for either party.

I do sometimes wonder if there is a certain amount of discrimination in the way our own government would rather appease the unelected Eurocrats rather than put it’s own tax paying citizens first.

Spellcheck is our enemy.

I had to manually add you login ID to my spellchecker, because it kept changing it to Baghead.
Yep, I remember you "changing" my name, sp.
My spellchecker asks me first, though.
Not keen on predictive text.
@ bighead

I always turn predictive text off :o)
