So, everyone who said 'let them in' is responsible for Brussels..

Is this a realistic assessment?

My response to you last night wasn't 'I don't care', it was 'Oh my God...how many more times do I have to explain something really straightforward?'

Hopkins and you are conflating two completely different ideas.

I have never stated what I think about the EU policy on Syrian refugees on AB.

Not once.

Dumb people have assumed my position, because they are dumb.

My actual position is that Europe cannot accommodate the influx of migrants, and that it's the responsibility of Middle Eastern countries to step up and take in the migrants. Aid (if required) should be assigned to these countries on a humanitarian basis.

That's my position.

But these attacks aren't a result of the current migrant situation - they are a result of radicalisation of Belgian Muslims.

I hope after yet anyone explanation, you get where I'm coming from.
SP, //If these murderers are born and bred Belgians, isn't the question of refugees moot?//

No. Where these people are born is irrelevant. Islam is not confined by country; its adherents are not primarily patriotic. It is a brotherhood unrestricted by national or international boundaries. You need to examine the fundamental philosophy - one that is shared by many, including, I’d hazard an educated guess, very many of those refugees.
naomi24

Okay...I get your point.

I don't agree with your summary, but I get why you're saying it.
SP, why do you not agree? Are you sure that none of the refugees share that philosophy?
I disagree because I'm looking at what Hopkins said, and it doesn't make sense to me.

But if you agree with her summary - fine. We all have different perspectives. We've both attempted to argue our respective points, and we have both failed to sway the other person - so it's probably best to let this one drop.

Naomi is correct, I don't care if they are "indigenous" by our definition, they are foreign by their own. When Their baabaric religion makes them do what they do it does not matter were they where born, to me they are a foreign invader. All this does is spilt hairs so people like SP and co can divert the conversation into some sort of semantic wrangle rather than concentrate on the facts of what these murderous low lives want to do to us all.
SP, you've avoided answering my question - but if you want to leave it there, so be it. I'll draw my own conclusions.

This was DM editor Paul Dacre's original comment at signing her up:

Katie Hopkins joins Daily Mail

Daily Mail editor Paul Dacre celebrated the announcement by bathing in the blood of virgin immigrants and hosting a party for his new star columnist.

Dacre explained, “We at the Daily Mail pride ourselves on bringing you the most abhorrent opinions known to man, and I’ve always been jealous of Katie’s ability to stoop so low she’s practically underground.”

The problem I have with Katie Hopkins has always been that she seems to express the most contentious opinion on any issue, which is like shooting fish in a barrel.

To set yourself up as 'saying what everyone else is thinking ... is a simple route to knee-jerk reactions to whatever is firing up your readership. It doesn't validate a view simply because it is expressed by Richard Kay or Piers Morgan or Sarah Vine of indeed Katie Hopkins. It simply offers readers a chance to read their similar rhetoric and pat themselves on the back for agreeing with someone who simply agrees with them.

So a mutual admiration society, and a willingness to huff and puff with self-righteousness is a nice career move if you can get it - but, as in this case, it bears little analysis as a considered reaction.

Andy > The problem I have with Katie Hopkins has always been that she seems to express the most contentious opinion on any issue,

She is the self-proclaimed 'biggest *** of them all'!

The problem was I think she was bursting at the seams to be the real Katie when she was working for The Sun as she wasn't permitted to fully express her opinions. Also, by joining the Mailonline she knew her audience would reach the stateside where the online version is very popular.
No Ag our lovely Katie is so far as underground because a lot us think she is brain dead already ....

and to Nigh - // Are you sure that none of the refugees share that philosophy?//
the refufees looking for er refuge by definition are united more by a belief they will get a better life in Northern Europe.

Oh but there are terrorists amongst them - yeah nigh have you noticed - bears shut in woods .....
Question Author
PP > our lovely Katie is so far as underground because a lot us think she is brain dead already

Tube fault?

Re: refugees united looking for a better life - many return whence they came, some awful places like Suomi! Better the devil you know!
naomi24

I've answered your question.

The refugee situation and the bombing yesterday are not linked, because the bombers are not refugees.

Therefore Hopkin is wrong to link the two stories.
"It simply offers readers a chance to read their similar rhetoric and pat themselves on the back for agreeing with someone who simply agrees with them". It may gall some of you but a lot of what Katie says is not just outrageous publicity grabbing hype but is in fact the views of many who don't have the medium to express those views less they're accused of bigotry. There are whole swathes of the UK who secretly agree with her - just because some don't doesn't make her automaticlly wrong.
naomi24

You asked:

SP, why do you not agree? Are you sure that none of the refugees share that philosophy?

That has nothing to do with what Hopkins said.

She blamed the bombing on refugees.

Were the bombers refugees or not?

Simple as that.

I am cynical enough to think that Katie looks at a situation, decides which is the most controversial view, and then prints that as her opinion.

I don't think she really believes or cares about what she writes - the object is to stir up reaction and sell papers and get hits on social media.

As long as you have a thick skin - and she does - the money rolls in.
Question Author
Sp > She blamed the bombing on refugees.

Not forgetting Merkel!

Andy > I am cynical enough to think that Katie looks at a situation, decides which is the most controversial view, and then prints that as her opinion

It makes you wonder how she conducts herself in public. If she was as strident in her everyday dealings with people then you would think she would have a hospital bed reserved or at the very least have masses of hair pulled out!
// I don't think she really believes or cares about what she writes - the object is to stir up reaction and sell papers and get hits on social media. //

Oberon Bore - the son of Evelyn Waugh in the Private Eye was like that
Pain in the arris to read. what a dissppointing son to a distinguished father

but hey Katey - she has a credible second career in singing doesnt she ?
( Katie La Chantoosey - sounds rather distinguished )

and Ag remember Merkel did have a first career as a chemist
( nuclear chemist rather than pharmacist - you know big boms and thingss )

bombs not bosoms sorry
SP, they are refugees, from the human race.
