There have always been places that are suspect which is why airlines have their own security checks over and above those of the airports. jourdain - the nose cone of the Pan Am plane was found intact because the bomb was placed in a hold which was near the electronics bay (near the nose wheel)
And Port Suez and Port Said, better to drive.........then there were Khartoum and Mogadishu - however, they are different Muslim centres and not holiday destinations, prima facie...
I don't think I'll be flying anywhere, anymore. I'll have to take small terrier with me to be safe through Calais, so bye-bye quick flights to the sun and hello long-haul drives! They have attractions if you get the mind-set right.
well, as long as I enjoy my 1st class meal and wine before the fuse goes off over the Med, Atlantic or Russia, Jourdain....now who has a nice Chateau Margaux 2009 on offer upfront?
DTC - Can't think there'll be too many Margaux 2009 on offer in the air! I'm remembering the times when one drifted through various regions sampling local cuisines and wines - not a wholly bad option! That's where I learnt about the 'Villages'!
Blooming heck, Shoota! Have one still on the market (viewing 10th, fingers crossed). Seriously, I am wondering if the better option is to accept reality and open it up again, refurbish and use it as a holiday home - which we can't really afford, buty at least we'd get holidays. :)
I am sure I flagged up the possibility of a bomb on board on day one. I also suggested (somewhat tongue in check) the premise that perhaps the planter was Dutch.
// and China must fear them as there are over 130 million Muslims in the PRC,//
yeah all the Uigars are ( Muslim )
the irony klaxons were silent when myChinese (Han) guide explained they were all one big happy family - they're even had bombs !
I am terribly terribly sorry for the Egyptians ( who are not ethinically arab ) as they will starve without the tourist industry
2013 when I was last there the servants on the Nile cruises were getting £100 sterling a month ( yup £3 a day ) and the guides £300
( and they all had even the teenagers two wives and a handful of kids )
"I am terribly sorry for the Egyptians" The Egyptians need to get their act together with regards to airport security or they can kiss goodbye to their tourist trade.
^Not for much longer. The Muslim Brotherhood have already all but destroyed the tourist trade along that 'canal' - and now their mates are destroying Sharm. These people are a blight on the planet!
It was too high for a ground missile. A bomb in the hold would disperse debris eaqually and the tail would be near other sections. A jet fired missile would not target the tail. An hand held bomb carried on would be impossible to get through airport security.

Blimey, I wish I too had a crystal ball as accurate as that!
