Wonder if there will be a smoking ban there.
I suppose they figure it will save more money than it costs. But I can't see why people who commit crimes here shouldn't be punished here.
Are we going to pour millions in building prisons across the globe to cater for all our multi-national convicts?

How jolly decent and caring of us...
You couldn't make it up!! Nothing in this Country needing £25 million?
they're doing it so they can deport Jamaicans. Isn't this what people want?
Question Author
Maybe jno, but could they come back when their sentence is done.
you'd like to think not, but I don't know how these things work. The idea seems to be to send Jamaicans - not Brits - over there, so presumably they have no right to return here and their names are on the banned list.
Vote UKIP. End the nonsense.
Question Author
I did but the nonsense still continues.
t was watching a programme about the Peruvian customs. Very impressive they were too. All the latest 'top of the range' gear. Brand new American SUV's. Armani uniforms. No expense spared. Curious, I thought, I thought Peru was a poor country.
All was later revealed, Britain trains and funds the Peruvian Customs Service. That'd be us who cut back on our Customs to save money. Us who's immigration service is 'not fit for purpose'.
Of course, the neo Marxists on AB, and those running the country, will tell you the many and wonderful ways these schemes save us money (in the long run). I think they're full of it.
tony, not enough of us did, so the farce carries on.

Looks that way, baza.
£25 Million spent overseas again while we are constantly told we must make cuts.

Interesting to note however that those on the left don't jump in so as to gain political points, but then they are unlikely to complain when the money is being spent on foreigners. But they constantly deny we have a problem with foreign crooks anyway.

The money is being spent on foreigners anyway!

I would have thought this would be welcomed news. 25 million outlay for a 10 million a year saving. Pays for itself in a few years!

I can't muster up any sympathy for criminals being sent back to their home country. Just hope none of them have a cat!
£14 million spent in 2013, this time for a prison in Somalia.

Next stop Eastern Europe they will also need new jails so that we can get rid of all those Eastern European criminals that are also crowding out our prisons.

ummmm

Just get rid of them anyway, no need for us to bother about how their countries house them.
Still waiting for mikey and his few supporters to make their appearance.
It actually cost a fortune to house a prisoner in the UK, I would imagine that in Jamaica the cost is a lot less - and the prisons are proper prisons.

So, if it does cost us less in the long run then I am all for it.

It will also free up spaces in the UK for Eastern European criminals we need to lock up as well as our own home grown ones including pensioners not paying their poll tax.
There lies the problem though as said in the article. If they cannot be deported because of prison conditions then pay towards somewhere they can be deported to. It'll save money in the long run. The cost of keeping them in prison here and the cost of appeal after appeal.
Good idea do it for more Countrys and DNA all the illegals with no ID and send them back to the match DNA
