Then they should make their way to the nearest safe country mikey- I'm crap at geography but I'm pretty sure the UK isn't the nearest one.

but Britain can't do something to help

I thought they had helped fund the camps in Jordan etc
I can't help thinking that the finances for this are going to have to come from somewhere and it sure won't be the bankers (or the wealthy Arabs for that matter) who are going to pay
No worries, Nicola wants the immigrants in Scotland. Prepare the haggis ;)

The UK is providing the Lions share of relief aid to the refugee camps. More than other European states and the Arab world.

Ron...I predicted that the awful photo of the dead little boy on the Turkish beach would be a game changer, and I was right.

I actually agree with bazwillrun...what praise do you want for making that statement, mikey?

Children have been and are being decapitateded in Syria, should the newspapers print some graphic photo's of these atrocities to gee us up into taking a serious military option into consideration?

Well does that mean the UK might have to cut that if they are going to provide for asylum seekers

Probably and benefits for our own old and needy not to mention the workshy so I won't mention them.
If I was asked I would willingly have a family come to live with me - I live in 3 bedrooms on my own so I can afford to be generous with space - but its not just about that is it - if they took the last place in my local school that I needed I'd want them back on a boat to a refugee camp as quick as a flash - and if anyone says they don't feel the same don't believe them

That is quite true. It is more than just lack of housing. It is our now fragile infrastructure that is collapsing. Food,Hospitals, schools, extra crime.etc
University is cheap as chips in England as well (providing you are not British) :-(

/// So what is the answer then Naomi ? Its continually denied on here, ///

Our answer, and I think I can answer for most, except the 'hand wringers' is "Keep them out we are full up"

So what is your answer mikey, "let everyone in who wants to come in"?
Is that actually true, Retro?
Apparently so ummmm. Same as Scotland unless you are English.
Loads of student grants handed out to foreign students for London Universities.
Those same students who then disappear when their course has finished or sometimes before the course is finished but they don't go back to their country of origin. They then become illegal immigrants who have over run their visa status.
ummmm

//According to Al Ahram news channel, Sawiris cited the 32,000 strong El Gouna, a resort town he developed on the Red Sea in Egypt, as an example of a “desert land that he turned habitable.”//

If he can do it then so can other oil rich Arab nations .
Thats a brilliant idea Ummmm
While we are at it - lets see Richard Branson do the same with his island too, and doesn't Paul McCartney have one off Wick?
ummm
That is exactly what I suggested to Ichekeria on this post at 1200. :-)
Food for thought...
Retro...I have read all the answers but I have the memory of a gold fish! It's just that it popped up on facebook...
