No, mushroom, there is a move for Yorkshire to become independent in its own right, not join Scotland. This is quite a surprise to me, many years ago I jestingly said that I thought the North would be better off joining Scotland simply because we have nothing in common with the South as exemplified by Londoners and, ergo the government. Try the 'I love Yorkshire' site.
I emphasise that this was a flight of fancy, but Northerners are totally sick to death of the London control and have been for many years whilst they were being belittled, drained of resources etc.. What is gaining a lot of support is for Yorkshire to have Regional status and I would go along with that; although, for the record, we are strong enough (I think) to actually become independent. We've just been downtrodden and ignored for too long, which is causing the upsurge.
Joining Scotland won't happen - and I am half-Scottish/half Yorkshire-English (by the way, it feels more important to be Yorkshire than to be English, odd, must think about it).
