Another one bites the dust...or...ties the knot!

I live in a college town. In fact, I just graduated in Dec. 04 and took a job with the university. When I was in school, it was definately not uncommon to hear, see & meet tons of girls that were already engaged! It was very irritating to me, being a "wait till you're quite a bit older" person....I mean, at least wait until you're out of college for goodness sake, right??

Well, after knowing so many of these "marrying young" girls...I got used to it and tried to ignore it...

but now, it's gotten worse and my own friends from college are already getting engaged...each time a friend of mine tells me she has been proposed to, I cringe! We are all around 22 and that is just ridiculously soon right?

or am I being left in the dust, while all of these girls get their men to commit? How do you all deal with it when it seems like girls around you are getting marriage and you know it's far off for you? (or has this ever happen to you in the first place)?

i personally would say that 22 is too young to be getting engaged/married, i dont see they problem with just going out boyfriend/girlfriend, if you are serious about each other then surely theres no rush.

HAnn, it's not a race! What all these other guys do is their path and they may well mess it up while you get there properly. Either way, don't worry about them, it's your life you should be concerned about, and 22 is far from the average age nowadays which is a lot closer to 30.

If you were 40 and making this point I'd go along with you, but 22? You're only just out of college, and have plenty of time!

I met my husband when I was 18 we got engaged 6 months later (I was at university at the time). We got wed when I was 22 and now I am 29 and don't regret it for a minute. Looking back I was very young, but also very mature (my mum died suddenly when I was just 17 so had to grow up quick!). I don't know what I'd say if one of our 3 daughters told us they where engaged when they were 18.....

You don't know if it's far off, you could meet the love of your life at the bus stop tomorrow morning.
difficult to answer. I met Mr W when I was 14, started dating 3 years later, got engaged in december and married the summer I was 21. We knwe there would never be anyone else and that was that. As Bluemukka says, could be today, could be 10 years time!
