/// The plan will be seen as an attempt by Labour to address the loss of support to Ukip, particularly in its northern heartlands. ///

But then there once wasn't such a party called UKIP.

Tories say: 'Nobody will what Labour say on immigration or welfare'

eh?
// But then there once wasn't such a party called UKIP.//
but now there is and we are stuck with it

In 1936 when Oswald Mosley captivated the country with his Blackshirts,
did the mainstream parties change their policies in response ?
I'm wary of posting because I seem to have picked up a stalker. However, had to laugh at this and the extra 1,000 border-force staff they're going to employ. So they'll be keeping them out instead of scouring the world looking for them.
shweik ?
not me I hope

I am sorry if you feel stalked. and also sorry that you feel therefore you cant express yourself
.

for my part I have never felt ... you know... I cant post

Almost certainly a cynical ploy - and I question whether it would even be enforceable under current EU regulations.

This smells very fishy indeed.
All the parties are panicking like mad because UKIP are chewing at their heels and getting ready to overtake. The other parties have now gone in to panic mode. They're willing to lie and promise anything. Don't believe them.
The reason Labour (and indeed the Tories and the LibDems) are now "getting tough" (splits sides laughing) with immigration is because they have finally, finally, realised that it is a major issue for large numbers of the electorate and they can no longer dismiss those concerns as the ravings of racists.

The big announcement last week that the European Court had given the green light for governments to deny benefits to migrants was a red herring. It only applied to Jobseekers Allowance and the court made it clear that other benefits (which cost far more) such as Working Tax and Child Tax Credits, Pension Credits, Hosing Benefit and Council Tax Credits were not subject to the ruling. So a migrant with a partner and two children can still come here, work for 24 hours on the minimum wage (worth £8,112 he works 52 weeks per year) and still enjoy an income, courtesy of the taxpayer, of £27,000 per year.

None of these panic measures would have been propounded by the main parties had the threat posed by UKIP not been present.
Yes, "UKIP are a bunch of swivel eyed loonies, closet racists, and blah di blah blah ...and here's what we'll be doing to copy them".
Don't see many responses from our resident hard core labour supporters on here.

UKIP have finally shaken up UK politics.

We all owe a huge debt of gratitude to Our Nige for finally getting the mainstream to listen to the majority rather than the chattering class.

But Labour would never do this, instead they will completely sell us out to the EU so we can sink in their (the EU) debt to be forgotten as a country forever.
