Andy, you're a very vociferous and opinionated person. So much so that you often have to issue apologies. Yet if you feel transgressed against, you don your moderator cap and threaten people. Imo, you should either moderate your own behaviour or stop issuing threats to others.(or better still, both)

The best answer appears to be coveted on AB :)

Life's for living...not for bickering about a 'best answer' you don't agree with.

I'm off to lurk... until I get itchy fingers again that is ;)
It's not that people don't agree, kylesmum, it's just a nit-picking, childish beyond belief and deliberate playground use of a best answer that has no relevance to the topic at hand.
AOG should be ashamed of himself.
A simple plaque near to the site of the Rigby atrocity ought to be enough.

There is precedent for such a tribute when serving military personel are killed because they are serving, rather than dying in a combat situation.
For goodness sake.....not coveted at all.....

When inappropriately used to make a point it's petty and this discussion could have been interesting and above petty.....
For Funks Sake. stop whinging.
That's ripe, coming from you svejk
Isn't it just.....☺

"'The council said the wording had been agreed following discussions with members of the Rigby family who endorsed the plan.

His widow Rebecca Rigby, said: “I know St George’s Chapel and it is a peaceful place and I think the memorial proposals will be fitting.”

Lyn Rigby, Lee’s mother said: “I support the council’s plans and will feel able to visit the memorial in the Chapel."'

Regardless of what anyone else thinks, the opinions of those who matter appear to support the council's decision.
People can quite obviously see why Stephen Lawrence was mentioned in the question, and those that say they can't or have questioned why he was are being disingenuous.

Corby...thanks for you recent answer. I brought up the subject of Lee's Mum yesterday, and it essential that anything that is done has her approval.

But I am not sure what she would have made of all this bickering and obfuscation on this thread though.

By the way, Andy isn't the only moderator on here !

Thank you for your excellent comments, yours also deserves the Best Answer placement, but if I changed the one I have already displayed it would be giving in to those who wish to govern what an ABer classes as the best answer.

Some have said that if one places a best answer then it should be to the question one has asked, that is rich when most of this thread has turned into a personal attack against myself rather than addressing the question that I have asked.

Regarding the question of moderators, I had no idea that they were allowed amongst us, and were also allowed to join in the debates, if this is true they should be named so that we all know who we are debating with, and what their agenda was.
The Ed made it clear from the beginning that they were 'user moderators'

We don't need to know who they are. If they abused their mod status they wouldn't be mods for very long. Remember, every report or deletion has to have an explanation that goes to the Ed.
" I had no idea that they were allowed amongst us,"

Seriously? Allowed? C'mon AOG, didn't think you were that daft! As ummmm's pointed out we're users first and moderators secondly. The day we're asked to be the latter and not the former is the day I want paying for it!

As for us being named, some of us are happy to let it be known that we are, however I can understand the other's reluctance to be 'outed', and until it becomes a paid job and is still been done on a volunteer basis It's their right for it to stay that way.

I've only seen one instance of mod power abuse, and that was done by myself! I made a post some months back and it didn't go the way I liked so I 'abused' my power and pulled it ;-)

Again, as ummmm's pointed out if there is serious abuse of power by any o us, you can bet your boots we wouldn't have that power for much longer.

Lastly, you know that you make controversial posts, you must be aware that you'll get equally controversial replies, some of which you may not like- tis the way the cookie crumbles im afraid.
BOO - "As for us being named, some of us are happy to let it be known that we are, however I can understand the other's reluctance to be 'outed', and until it becomes a paid job and is still been done on a volunteer basis It's their right for it to stay that way."

I would have preferred to remain anonymous, but circumstances led to me admiting that I was a Mod.

I personally have absolutely no problem with the concept of moderators, and like most on here, I only know for sure about one other person who has the role.

I post on here without thought of anyone 'moderating' my responses - it has yet to happen.

Similarly, I would only delete an answer (I have never yet taken a thread down) if it was offensive or crass, and never because I simply disagreed with it.

The reference to moderators 'moving among us' sounds like something out of Assassin's Creed!

As for them being names - that is the Ed's decision, and as for 'knowing what their agenda is' - i can only speak personally, I have no 'agenda'.

Hopefully the reference to moderators will not discourage either the moderators, who ensure that some control is exercised at times the Ed is off line, or the contributors, who hopefully know that only transgressing Site Rules will attract their attention as moderators, otherwise, like myself and Boo, they are contributors first and most, moderators second and least, and Thought Police not at all!!
AOG...is knowing that you are debating with moderators going to change what you say or how you say it?
I doubt it gness, AOG ignored all my replies prior to being a mod and he continues to do so, lol ;-)
Ahhhh....I just wondered why it seems so important to him to know.....☺

/// I doubt it gness, AOG ignored all my replies prior to being a mod and he continues to do so, lol ;-) ///

That is new to me, if I did then it was unintentional and taking it in to consideration that I can't be expected to answer everyone who posts a comment.

I wonder if the ED will ask me to become a moderator?
I very much doubt it. You're too easily offended.

Do you know the answer?

Should There Be A Lasting Memorial For Murdered Lee Rigby, Such As The One That Was Placed For Stephen Lawrence, A Few Miles Away In Eltham?
