Still think UKIP are a bunch of racists? - Yes.

Your conclusion is wrong. It does not prove UKIP are not racist because they have a Sihk members.

It proves that Sikhs can be racist.

Which we already know

Do you think that this gentleman's ethnic origins confirm that UKIP are free of racists?

Or that UKIP as a party is not fundamentally racist, unlike, say the BNP, NF or Britain First.

I don't believe that UKIP is fundamentally racist, but I would be equally surprised if anyone pointed at this man as proof that the party were not attractive to some who indeed are racist.

It falls dangerously close to "I can't be racist, some of my best friends are black"...something that I thought had been consigned to the dustbin of socialogical history.

I hope its not rearing its head again...
I don't believe that UKIP is racist. I think they've certainly been portrayed as that by all the media, left and right. It's called scaremongering and gullible people are falling for it.
Janbee

UKIP constantly have to apologise for its members' racist utterences, and have expelled several members for racist behaviour. More so than any of the other parties.

They are trying desperately to clean up their image, but the racists are attracted to the Party, so the racist remarks and expultions will continue.

A few gullible people are taken in by UKIPs PR, but most can see through it.
Gromit, The former Labour councillor says he wants to support a party which will control the UK’s borders. What’s racist about that? Sounds like common sense to me.
// have expelled several members for racist behaviour //

They're not thinking that through properly. A racist organisation should really be trying to retain it's racist members wherever possible.
Except that Mr Harjinder Singh Sehmi, was awfully glad that he was allowed to immigrate to Britain, but now seems to want to prevent others being so lucky.

Smacks of hypocrisy to me.
Just been looking at the local politics behind this.

// Coun Singh Sehmi may be the incumbent but he faces stiff competition to win back his seat or even come second. Both Tory candidates - Roger Bailey and Shabbir Ahmed - are in with a chance while the second Labour candidate, Richard Brown, could oust his party colleague. //

In the May elections, Mr Sehmi lost his seat to a fellow Labour Candidate. There were no UKIP candidates in that election. He resignation is therefore probably sour grapes - rejected by the electorate, betean by his own party.
Isn't that generally the case with most defections (sour grapes)

And no, UKIP are not racists. That is put about by those afraid that the people are now standing up for themselves.
The problem UKIP have is that they do attract racist supporters because of their euro-sceptic, immigration-sceptic policies. That doesn't make them a racist organisation, or their policies racist policies.

It's cheap shot, lazy thinking - like dismissing the Greens as just a bunch of tree hugging hippies.
Major 'fail' on your understanding of racism there AOG as pointed out by Gromit.
As for UKIP being racist......they have been proven to be on several occasions. Farage is content for his most right wing members to spout racist views, he then sits back to judge to condemnation and if it is fairly unanimous, he distances himself from it either by condemnation or a sacking.

If all you potential UKIP voters need a wake up call, here's one:

to judge 'the' condemnation
Yes, we should all take note from a cheap lefty rag.

My, what a lefty love in you have got going here AOG !
cheap lefty rag....independent broadsheet. It's all the same facts.

UKIP want all that lovely dosh that Brussels deals out but pretend that they want to get out of Europe at the same time...hypocrisy at its worst !
Another lefty rag. At least I once found a use for an Independent though; to wipe my backside with.
Mickey, I take it you for the State funding political parties then?

Haven't made my mind up on that subject as yet but its a possibility. Its the hypocrisy of UKIP biting the hands that feeds it with caviar and champagne that irritates me.
Just to join in, Chubby Brown used to say that it was no use cutting up The Sun into little squares, and hanging them from a nail in the loo, as more *** came off the paper than came off your b*m !

Oh so it doesn't quite have the same effect to use the term "I can't be racist because some of my best friends are Asian"?

Why bring the word black into the argument?
