DPP have got verdicts in their favour with DLT,Rolf Harris and Stuart Hall.However the big fish they all let slip through the net i.e. Jimmy Saville remains dead.Seems like a case of trying to balance the books to me.

No one has suggested it was right, simply that it’s ridiculous to ruin someone’s life by bringing a charge for what amounts to a stupid indiscretion 20 years ago. I wonder how much compensation this woman will get?

naomi24 - obviously the woman involved - and the legal system, fail to see this as a 'stupid indiscretion'.

What is apparent is that enough evidence was amassed to bring a case - and these are only brought to court if there is a more than reasonable chance of a conviction.

What is also apparent is that a jury who have heard the evidence - which none of us have - judged the assault to be serious enough to merit a guilty verdict.

So although it may appear to outsiders as 'something that went on at the time', or, as you phrase it, a 'stupid indisrection', it appears to the people who actually know something about it, that it was far more than that.

In what respect, naomi? He appears to be a man in the entertainment business who took advantage of his position and his popularity to force his attentions on someone - in a junior position, as usually seems to be the case - he worked with.

Andy, yes, we know all that – the law has no option but to deal with complaints as the law demands - but in my opinion after 20 years it was opportunistically spiteful to bring this case in the first place.
