@Obiter,....surely earlier than the 1960s? I bet sick jokes have been around since the beginning of communication.....

Kn*bhead.
...not to mention the 'jokes' at the time of the Aberfan disaster.
Quite right, Bahsheba, but I was only 14 at the time. That was the first one I can remember.
Ovcourse its disgusting and abhorrent, one has to wonder at the mindset of someone who finds any type of animal suffering/carnage as humourous.
Yes I agree that there have always been jokes after any disaster, it's human nature, but for me when someone is a 'celebrity' or in the public eye, not only should they set an example in behaviour, they should certainly think about what they say in public. This case especially, didn't he see the effect it had on people and how much they cared...wss it a case of say it and be damned! Ali know it it was not appropriate for it to be put about and I was disgusted by it.

Come off the fence and say what you mean Jordy.
Thanks jordy, I wondered what the P stood for in his name.
I think the reason for the P in his name is because by Equity rules no actor can haave exactly the same name as another, and as there was alread a Jack Sheperd (of Wycliffe fame) he had to incorporate an initial or choose another name. It was for the same reason that Harry H Corbet (of Steptoe fame) had to insert an initial to distinguish him from Harry Corbet (of Sooty fame).
Thanks Obiter, but I think I prefer Jordys version in this case ;-)

Sack him, not funny in the least!

In fact I'm not going to watch Corrie again until he is sacked!!
His character should be killed off by a dog that would be justice !!
Sacking is far too extreme. We've all said things we've regretted and he has apologised.
Compared to the animal lovers that are threatening to lynch, birch, kill and burn down the home of a 15 year old boy, a tasteless joke is a nothing.

Certainly shouldn't be sacked for it.
He's an idiot.

Sack him, give him a taste of reality, cossetted little Prat!
I have a very dark sense of humour and can see some humour in every situation. I think that it called Gallows humour. But I realise that not everyone is like this and it is best to try and take care not to upset others.

Twitter is dangerous in the hands of a moron, he gave no thought at all to who may be reading his twitter thingy. Had he been with his friends (if he has any) it may have been the sort of joke their infantile little brains can find funny.

I am sure that this eejit has done stupid before - but can't think what.

Sacking his is a bit OTT. It is supposed to be a free country and all that.

The mobs hate people capable of animal cruelty as a close second to child cruelty. Often people will be capable of both. Corrie's moron may find that this tasteless joke will lose him friends and fans.

I haven't seen Coronation street since Deirdre's baby was in its pram in the street when a lorry drove into the pub. And it was one of the few episodes that I did watch.
