Go 'on the rob'. Young women might go on the game.

that's a bit misleading Dr F, he wasn't sanctioned but delayed by incompetence of the highest order. scandalous, yes. sanctioned by policy, well not really.

> He was eventually told by the DWP that he could have Braille letters, but that there was a four-week delay in translation. “So, by the time you get your letter, you’ve already missed the appointment,” Rob says. “It’s like a nightmare. Your benefits are then stopped for four weeks until another appointment comes through <

stopped for four weeks so then has to borrow money to live so then he has to pay interest on that money so ends up with less money

DR FILTH he was not sanctioned. Also the Mirror is wrong when it says 'For missing an appointment, the punishment can be as harsh as one month without benefits, three months or even up to three years." The maximum sanction for missing a Jobcentre appointment is thirteen weeks not three years.
It's just endless worry and stress for so many people.

THECORBYLOON they got my claim all messed up and the same with a lady near me so maybe just maybe they are not all as knowledgable as you
The experiences of two folk, whether good or bad, cannot be used as a guide to the experiences of the millions of others on benefits. The figures show that 94% of claimants each month are NOT sanctioned so the overwhelming majority of JSA claimants are doing all that is expected of them.

lot more than two THECORBYLOON

i know one young lady whose father put a rope round his neck after dealings with the dwp but they got no blame

i know plenty THECORBYLOON plenty

Shoplift. It has increased due to benefit capping.
The case you quote is tragic and even those at the DWP involved in it would have been affected but obviously not to the extent of the claimant's family and friends. They are not typical examples of the millions of claimants that are dealt with each year.
If and when you get your main benefit sanctioned there are other 'fall-back' benefits available to most. You must stop egging the pudding to score your childish political points.
You make great capital out of a few people committing suicide after reductions in benefit. Sadly there must be hundreds if not thousands of claimants who commit suicide, every year, who haven't had any reductions. Cherry-picking a few stories does nothing for whatever your point is.
Millions of people live on their benefits etc. without resorting to food banks, how? Its exactly as NJ says, if you offer people free stuff they'll take it.

But food from a food bank isn't offered. People receiving it have to be referred.

please tell me what they are ?
Vote Labour.
how would I know. Crisis loans, hardship fund, feckless boyfriend's drug money?
Question Author
Svejk i was told they stopped the loans and you now have to see the council for help but they have run out of money because the funds were cut THECORBYLOON should have the correct info

the whole idea of the benefit being stopped is that you get nothing , nowt, zilch

Food banks aren't just used by people on benefits - they are used by lots of low income families who have hit a financial crisis of some kind and have no savings to fall back on. It can take 13 weeks to receive benefits if you lose your job - if you haven't got any savings it's not going to be long before you are skint. For those of you doing the 'looking down' on others, be lucky you are not in such a miserable place.
JSA claimants can claim Hardship after two weeks of a sanction and those classed as being vulnerable can claim it from the start of the sanction.
Question Author
THECORBYLOON is this from the dwp or the council ?

in my local paper it said they had run out of money to pay out to the needy due to cuts
