As an Omnivore it'll still be nice to go into a shop (Muslim or other elk) and buy a Bacon butty.

Market forces maybe all well and good but my point was not selling a certain type of food to customers is ridiculous because of a religion.

Maybe my opening paragraph now makes sense . . . .

''Where will this 'takeover' end''

And I wasn't referring to Subway.
Oh well, another reason for me not to buy from Subway.
the smell in the subway shop near where we live puts us off!
I suspect the people who are up in arms about this do not eat at Subway.

Which is why the boycotts and the protests don't work. Anyone who has been in a Subway in London, Birmingham or Manchester will not be in the slightest bit Surprised by Subway's move.

No loss to me, I hate Subway sandwiches.
me too. I can make a sandwich myself. When I'm out for fast food it had better be tasty, calorific and greasy.
Nice sandwiches but far too expensive.
Why is a commercial decision made by Subway seven years ago, suddenly news now???

I am genuinely confused.

Is it because Muslim diners are forcing their culture on us, squeezing out great British eateries, such as KFC, MacDonalds, Burger King, Chipotle Mexican Grill, TGI Fridays, Baskin-Robbins, Domino's Pizza, Starbucks, Dunkin' Donuts, Ben & Jerry's, Pret A Manger, Pizza Hut and...and...oh....
Pret a Manger? How very dare you :-)
what a load of pigs trotters this all is. if people do not the food being sold go somewhere else and shut up. this is supposed to be a Christian country and we eat pig and pig products.

You wouldn't go to Kentucky Fried Chicken for a Bacon Sandwich would you? Well effectively, Sunway are just advertising the fact they don't sell Bacon Sandwiches either in a few of their shops. The message is clear, if you want a bacon sandwich, go elsewhere.

This is a commercial decision. Are you suggesting a law that all sandwich shops must be forced by law to sell Bacon?

All that's happened is that a number of Subway stores are now stocking halal meat.

Other branches will continue to stock non-halal meat, which gives pig eaters and pig avoiders the chance to make an informed choice.

If you wish to eat a bacon sandwich, all you would have to do, is go to a non-halal branch of Subway.
// if you want a bacon sandwich, go elsewhere. //

the decision to go "halal" is clearly a commercial decision. but the decision not to sell bacon sandwiches as well is nothing but kow-towing to religion.

the same people who have expressed strong demand for halal subway are also expressing strong demand for sharia law. on the basis that it would only affect those who choose to submit to it, why shouldn't they have it?

to use your own argument gromit - if you want british justice, go somewhere else.
Why is it that some will be quick to condemn Christian practices and beliefs, yet will defend anything Muslim?
Someone I know works as a school cook in a school in Birmingham.

SOME of the children are Muslim but a few years ago the school decided that ALL meat served in the school would be Halal.

Another example of this pathetic country bending over backwards to help Mulsims at the expense of everyone else.

I though Halal style killing was illegal anyway!

Mushroom - you've got it!

So much of British culture has been eroded and continues to be so.

This may well be considered a 'commercial decision' but would not come about it it wasn't for the a minority steadily trying to become the majority and imposing its demands. There will be no stopping the tide until everything changes. Sharia law could be on the British horizon. Then we will all eat halal.

Deary, deary me..........tin hats all around......it appears the sky is falling in!
