A Place in the Country on TV. Couple thought a property would be about £700,000 but it was "only" £499,950. I must live in a different world.

I agree. We've always had well paid, professional jobs but stopped watching Phil & Kirsty because we couldn't relate to the young couples with a budget of £600,000.

Its always perplexing when a retired couple on their own always need a sprawling 5 bed with a few acres of land

These programmes make me laugh . They all seem to have pots of money ,no children and want to live in the middle of nowhere .If a car is seen going along a road two miles away they go into one .And they all want enormous kitchens for two people .
And you're quite right cazzz ...I wish we had bought something more user friendly when we retired and it's only a three bed semi :)

No one ever buys any of the houses, it's all for show. Very, very rarely, someone will mention that they 'might' put an offer in.
