"Young family was wiped out by suicidal Pole...."

A headline in the Mail online, about a taxi driver who had split from his wife and committed suicide by crashing his car into another, killing the occupants. A sad tale, but why, do you think, did the Mail give the country of origin of the man? Would they say "suicidal Irishman", if the man was from Dublin, for example?

Yes, and did they say how much his house was worth?
Our local paper had a headline today - "Thief took priest's whisky collection" which, for some reason, made me smile.

Front page headline was about under-age drinking. What is the world coming to??

The Mail must employ someone to create the headlines tweaking the wording until it misrepresents the story entirely.
I really dont like this style - reinforcing the nationality here but I do think it is selectively done by them. The personal aspect of the tragedy gets lost in a different agenda - a negative agenda. They are bullies.

He can't have owned a house, or the Mail would have given the price ! That is not strictly necessary for them; I have seen Mail stories which said that houses in the area were worth such and such a price, presumably to establish how " respectable" the area where the crime occurred was.

[Now wait for AOG to come on and say how hypocritical it is of me to read the Mail online when I criticise the paper on here. Of course, in typing that, I may have stolen his thunder]

Curiously, if you see the first page of the Mail online that headline is there, but when you click on it to bring up the story and, out of abundant caution, provide a link, the story comes up headed 'driver' not 'Pole' !
## Would they say "suicidal Irishman", if the man was from Dublin, for example? ##

Probably, and I think people want to know.

Why do they want to know, trt? What relevance dpes where the man was born have?

Whether or not hes an Immigrant, or born here.

Just noticed this - the Irish Mirror's take on the same story.

Maybe it is because the incidents of crime amongst Poles seem high based on how many people are here.

There seems to be a lot of murders and others crimes involving Poles nowadays, and if that is the case it needs highlighting.

From earlier this year

Wherever he was from he was a b&stard. If he wanted to kill himself he should have driven into a tree, not head on into another car.
a horrible tale, ludwig is right why didn't he just kill himself if that is what he wanted, to take out others is beyond words.
Quite Ludwig, or driven into a pole.
Some of you find reporting his nationality the objectionable part of the story. What a strange world you must live in.
they are only too happy to give out nationalities of others, so why not say where he comes from.

\\Some of you find reporting his nationality the objectionable part of the story\\

LOL...exactly...BUT that is News for you.
odd isn't it that it is the case, object because the mail printed his nationality and not the heinous crime he committed.
And did the Mail tel a lie?

Many people will want to know. As I have pointed out many times to the chattering classes on here, the right-on liberal leftie is actually a minority.

I also note you have used what is a terrible story to push your liberal agenda, shame on you too you are not better than the Mail you are trying to demonize.
no point criticising the man, emmie, he's dead. Every point in criticising the Mail as it is still around.
I'm afraid this story is too tragic for point-scoring. Epic fail.
Split down party lines as usual I see.
