I would be very careful to feed my children anything that had been reduced from 85p to 19p.

But as the father said mistakes do happen

/// Mr Khan said: 'I put it down to human error, everybody makes
mistakes. ///

But what seemed to be the straw that broke the camels back was the fact that he was offered a bottle of Champagne as compensation, since Muslims don't drink????????

But anyway the manager didn't say her had to drink it, he could have sold it on.

But he was lucky to be offered any kind of compensation from Morrisons because on numerous occasions I have been charged incorrect prices on goods that have been labelled half price or buy one get one free etc,

Was I offered compensation for having to drive back to the store to obtain a refund? No instead I was forced to queue at customer services and then take part in cross questioning, then wait while a store worker checked out the offer on the self, before finally receiving the balance of cash back.

Surely Mr Khan there must be plenty of Muslim shops who would be sure to serve you and your family with Muslim acceptable food, but I don't know about being given a 66p discount on a 85p item.

Slow news day obviously!
AOG - LOL!

I don't think I've ever typed that before, in all the years we have corresponded!
AOG - I believe they still are - the Forces are multicultural these days, too.
Very slow News day.

The Daily Mail had a pullout feature on Fashion Week, so I bought it, and most of it is a long article just slagging off the fashion business.

AOG, you'd be hard pressed to find any shoes into which to put your feet in a mosque :o)

It is quite in order to keep shoes in the mosque providing they are clean.

/// Shoes should not be kept in mosque unless cleaned. ///

From The Islamic Academy ETIQUETTES FOR MOSQUES Question 6.

You can park your shoes at the mosque door, of course you can, but everyone is barefoot (or in socks) in the mosque, surely.

That will teach you for wanting to read such trivial matter. :0)

That goes without saying, the matter was regarding shoes being allowed in mosques not the wearing of them.
AOG ... I know, I know ... what can I say? I just needed a bit of lunch times reading fodder, and I thought it was going to review the weekend's cat walks, rather than getting all shirty about ... erm, a shirt.

only muslim curry restaurants/takeways will serve chicken bhuna because they DO eat meat

http://muslimvoices.org/islam-food-halal/
Boxy, would it be safe to assume that if meat is not stated to be halal then it definitely isn't or should I check the label to see if it is stated to be non -halal, ie should we assume guilt or innocence?
A cheese and onion pasty?
I thought cheese was a touchy subject for muslims.
Isn't it supposed to be haram because it might be made from rennet from animals?
// I thought cheese was a touchy subject for muslims. //

I think most things are. Onions too probably.
Actually, if a Muslim consumes pork unwittingly, that is not an offence to his religion. Likewise, if he’s starving, he is allowed to eat whatever is available – including pork.

The only complaint here should have been that a pasty labelled ‘cheese & onion’ contained meat. Had I bought it, I would have complained. I’m sure that the manager’s offer of champagne was made with the best of intentions, and the customer, rather than expecting non-Muslims to know the rules, should have been sensible and dignified enough to say quietly that he couldn’t accept it. Incidentally, plowter is quite right about cheese. Vegetarian cheese is acceptable to Muslims, but cheese made in the traditional way is not. That, however, didn’t seem to bother the customer when he happened upon a cheap pasty. Can’t help thinking that he, like a lot of his fellow-Muslims, enjoy making a fuss.
// Can’t help thinking that he, like a lot of his fellow-Muslims, enjoy making a fuss. //

I was wondering how this, and other stories like it get to be in the papers in the first place. It's really a trivial matter between the shop and the customer. Do people really get in touch with newspapers to say 'I was offended by a cheese pasty and I want you to report it'. ?
Or do the papers have some devious means of finding incidents like this in order to give them the tabloid shock horror treatment?
Perhaps there are clandestine AOGmeters, or Answerbankographs stationed at strategic locations up and down the country, which can sense events likely to cause seismic activity amongst us, that can alert tabloid journalists with nothing better to do :-)
118 posts. Do muslims own this website ?
I think the fact that he's Muslim is irrelevant.

We should stop pandering to self indulgent, mardy, whinge arses.
