That is sad. I remeber fondly his Smith and Jones work from the late 80's/90's. Very entertaining man.
Sad news, haven't seen him on tv for a while, Rip Mel.

Ah no, such a clever funny man.
That has sent a shiver down my spine.

Such a great guy and clever entertainer.

I recall the last time I saw him on TV he didn't seem at all well.

A great loss.
Oh no, how sad :(

I agree, one of those with an easy natural way with comedy and his facial expressions were a joy and transmitted so much. He leaves us with happy memories.

RIP Mel x
Oh no, what sad news. Loved him with Griff.
Sad news...RIP.
I might have to search You Tube for the Hi-Fi sketch.......it was brilliant.
What a shame. Smith (and Jones) were among the first British comics I 'got' when I first came to the UK. A sad loss...and too young.
They have been showing some "Not The Nine O'Clock News" on one of the TV channels recently (Gold I think) and I was watching one just last night.

At the end of the show they sang a song that was used at the end of the last episode of the last series they made together, where they say goodbye to each other, and sing that the memory "kinda lingers".

It was quite said seeing them all say goodbye to each other during the song, even more so now upon hearing Mel has died.

Even though the song was sad there had to be a rude undertone to it, and of course the way they sang "kinda lingers" to each other was rather rude.
he was great in the show Hairspray, a very versatile actor.
Kinda Lingers.... (sound not that great)

Goodbye Mel, thanks for the laughs.
