I've just seen a Tweet from Darshna Soni at C4 news:

https://twitter.com/intent/user?screen_name=darshnasoni&tw_i=337310141156306944&tw_p=tweetembed

"I have just spoken a mosque in Essex, who told me congregation was attacked by man in apparent "revenge" for Woolwich. More details to come."

I can't really think of a question, sorry. It just seems topical, and if more info comes out about it I figured it might be interesting to discuss.

JTP, do you actually watch the news on a daily basis, and not read the papers, religious killing is going on in many corners of the globe, minute by minute, bombs on streets in so many countries, Sunni v Shia, Afghanistan, not just troops killing civilians, but Muslim killing their own kind, why, and do you honestly think that isn't happening in other places. It isn't just a handful of people, look at Syria, they are killing one another on an industrial scale. You can't keep on blaming the west either. And it's not lazy thinking, i like others see, hear and take on board what is happening here and elsewhere, not just because a couple of terrorists hacked a soldier to death on our streets.

I think there's a perfectly valid case you could make for freedom being a superior principal, Jake.
Jim what a good job they didn't say the same prior to WW2 methinks. Sometimes actions have to be taken to prevent something's worsening to hand over to future generations IMO.
"Somethings"
The thing that I can't get my head around is these Muslim extremists hate the West with a passion, yet they come to live here, why ?.
Another mystery tony unless it is to convert those who would otherwise not bother with that religion...
I live in a community with a large number of Bangladeshis. Id o not see what you see em. They are not all fanatical, terrorists or potential terrorists. They do respect christians. I am not saying it is all wonderfully harmonious because the communities to not mix as much as they should. I know neighbours, shopkeepers, restaurant workers and a few lads who go to the pub, and they are all just like you and me.
An hour ago I asked this question

/// 99% of the Muslim community are law abiding ///
Just out of curiosity, what was the source of this quote?

The % figure was given three times on first page of this thread, it must have been sourced somewhere, and in the interests of fairness, I think we should know where!
When the blood-stained perpetrator is restored to health, courtesy of the NHS, he will be interviewed and it will transpire that he isn't conventionally 'stupid', but he will have been groomed for a long time into a twisted belief that what he has done was a glorious act. The old men responsible for this form of brainwashing are beyond UK law and are far away.
world domination, that sounds so far fetched and fanciful doesn't it, like out of a Dan Brown story, but my journalists friend wasn't fanciful, rather to down to earth at times, but he had worked in the ME for many years and truly believed this would happen.
Yes, of course, daisy-- but WW2 isn't comparable to immigration. And, for that matter, how many people prior to WW2 supported appeasement?

I'm tired of hearing people ranting about how this country is falling from greatness and that my generation is the worst-off ever, or some such nonsense. I don't recognise that description.
You are right jim but the decision was made then for the future so sometimes this has to be done even if we find it unpalatable IMO.
well next time take a look at the recent two part BBC programme on Bradford, i think you could still get it on I player, it was so slanted that i wonder it didn't fall over itself. I did watch both episodes and didn't see, hear anywhere, anything about mixed communities, white living alongside black, asian, getting along fine, there was almost no mention of British white people living in Bradford at all, though there are, more as NJ puts it Mono cultural.
Tonyav,
The asians who have settled here are relics of our ex Empire and from the British Commonwealth. They came for jobs. In my town, that was in Cotton mills doing the unpopular shifts. Their children were born here and their children. When the current generation visit family back in Asia, they come back appreciating how fortunate they are to live here. The notion that they are on some kind of quest to spread Islam is nonsense.
"The notion that they are on some kind of quest to spread Islam is nonsense"

dream on
Gromit, I said Muslim extremists, not the off spring of immigrants.

/// Let's hope we don't have an outbreak of violence perpetrated by knuckle draggers using this incident as an excuse to vent their nasty little spleens. ///

Yes I hope so too, we had enough of that during the Tottenham riots and looting, when those other 'knuckle draggers' took to the streets.

Yes - and in Manchester as well...remember?

/// That would be very ironic ///

No what is ironic jake is the fact that you regularly bander about the words 'OUR' or 'OURS' but you always support the 'OTHERS' side.
