And if such drugs are classed as illegal how can they suddenly become legal in only certain locations such as Brighton, which is already called the Gay centre of Britain?

You must admit that AOG gets attacked on a daily basis regardless of what he posts. If he said it was Thursday, today, the same old faces would argue the point, accuse him of reading the day off the front of the DM. I was wondering why he bothered the other day. Guess he'd miss it and I know the lefties would.

you can become an addict after one go at whatever drug, like alcohol and getting bladdered, some take to it, get hooked right off the bat, some don't.
Those unlucky enough have to score off dealers, in the capital you can find them almost any place, it's paying for it the problem. It is why you see high levels of drug related crime, after all if you have a habit, and if it's bad, then you need to keep feeding it. No different for alcoholics. Only they get smashed on a lot less.

Let me change "Worldview" to "My personal view from years of experience".

Now lets take your post, "there is a generational decrease in "moral fibre" and an inevitable, inexorable slide into feral behaviour,

Just this one example covers it, but there are many many more examples.

/// lmost certainly spearheaded by those crafty immigrants, subverting Britishness by stealth. ///

Why you must bring race into it is only known to you, because I have not made any reference to it, as well you know.

But if you also desperate to see examples, I am sure they are not hard to find, just as the White indigenous ones were also not..
AOG, //....I often say "things were much better in the past" and "it never happened in my day"//

When you say that, what era are you talking about? When exactly was 'your day'?
Naomi - he never seems to answer that question.
Ummmm, few seem to agree with him about much at all, so I just wondered if there's anyone else here who was around in his day.
i do hate it when people have to quote all the time cause they cant answer the question!

AOG re your phrase of 'it didnt happen in my day' it did happen its just that theres more media coverage now so its out in the open nothings changed...and now your asking how the hell do i know well its cause im an old git as well....
me naomi ...lol
perhaps he doesn't like to give the game away. But it wasn't better in my day, in fact i am pretty convinced that half the damn problem with drugs now, is a direct consequence of the swinging sixties, numpties who got off their heads on hard drugs, have just handed down the problem to younger generations. And taking drugs isn't limited to youngsters now. i know any number who still do drugs, they haven't managed to kick their habits, and the effects on their families has been hard.
Are drugs really so easily available? I probably just don't know the right people to talk to. Anyway, once again let's stop pretending that this is part of a moral slide. If anything we realise today more than ever what damage drugs can do, when before smoking, drinking and drugs were all thought of as sometimes even good for your health! We're going a way back here though, to be fair.

I don't know if this centre is a good idea. It seems worth trying something new, since the old approach hasn't really worked.
yes they are. Camden town is awash with them, as are many parts of the capital. you don't have to look far. One of my neighbours sits on the door step and smokes dope, i am considering asking the little wazzock not to, as the smell is vile.
Very long thread...this may have been answered before, but why is there a mention of Brighton being Britain's gay centre in the question???

I don't see the link.
"Let me change "Worldview" to "My personal view from years of experience"."

Is it really though?

I've no doubt you have strong memories of 'your day' (which you've never specified in time, so we can't check the evidence to see if you're right), but most of the impressions you express on here about modern-day violence or decline seem to just boil down to a bunch of selections that come from elsewhere - from TV, or newspapers, or radio.

Has it ever occurred to you that these things are not strictly neutral arbiters of information? That they have agendas? That they are capable of influencing one's perception of the world by choosing what they show you? If you grew up in the middle of the twentieth century, then you grew up at a time when government regulation of press and other media was at its highest point in modern British history, whereas nowadays it isn't.
in pretty much the same way that child prostitution was rife in those oh so straight laced Victorian times, there has never been a good time, great time to live here, there has always been crime, and always some form of drug taking.
sp1814 - it has, and I have given it my full attention!

ummmm

/// Naomi - he never seems to answer that question ///

Wrong again I have often answered that question, 1930s, 1940s, 1950s.
NIMBY !!

So you're from my granddads era. Strange how your attitudes are completely different.

I don't think he'd agree with you that things were better in 'his day'. I think he found the poverty quite hard.
