I suspect whist there may be minor level coverage, the odd line at most, the US wouldn't see the UK as a world influence any more; so would get even less excited about our elections than we do about theirs.
I bet most don't even know who our Prime Minister is. They suffer myopia when it comes to foreign countries.
If Fox News, other stations, and American papers available online here, are anything to go by, no! The result gets a few seconds on the TV. The election itself gets some slight coverage in the New York Times and Washington Post, but you have to go to the minor sub-section called 'Europe' to find it; it never merits front page coverage.
Maybe we cover their elections as part of the 'special relationship' that we supposedly have with them!
Incidentally, Americans may not know who David Cameron is, but they'd certainly recognise the Duchess of Cambridge, and probably her sister, Pippa (or, at least, one part of her). The wedding was given extensive, constant, coverage on Fox News and the other media , right from the early hours before it began to the very end.
There was an American journalist and broadcaster on the radio this morning and she said she couldn't understand why we had such coverage of the US election.

She said the U S didn't cover our elections at all!
Carole, the American didn't understand what great entertainment they are, right from the primaries, which are like Britain's Got Talent but with even more eccentric and/ or talentless contestants ! And, to be fair to her,as the saying has it, Americans only know where a foreign country is if they have troops in it, so lack of interest in ours is no surprise. They may be surprised that we are interested in the final of this talent contest because the outcome may affect our economy as much as theirs.
Any show that costs two and a half billion dollers every 4 years is worth watching and that's only the election.
The Daily Show was fascinated with the uncertainty surrounding the 2010 election and the way in which the out-going is immediately bundled out to make way for the incoming, even strolling down the street with the family.
i'm going to stay up all night and watch the election....me and mr kicker always do. i think the voter turnout in america is fantastic - it beats the pants off british apathy for voting. can you imagine someone in middle england waiting 4 hours to vote? i hope it is exciting, but ultimately obama to win. romney and ryan are facist +++++
Romney & Ryan - an acceptable face of the Tea Party/Redneck Party - best help the world if THEY get in. IMO
following from zebo's post, I read somewhere that the outgoing destroy all their files so that the incoming have to start again from scratch. What a way to govern a country!!
