As sure as night follows day the subject of compensation has risen its ugly head. What is the point? It's just blood money. It is exactly the same as Saville bunging one of his victims a wad of cash when he was alive to keep them quiet. Will this money make them suddenly forget about his abuse if they were so traumatised? The whole thing stinks. How many more alleged 'victims' are going to come out of the woodwork now that they smell a few quid in it?

One way of looking at it I guess is satisfaction that hopefully JS will be spinning in his grave knowing his hard earned (!) money is helping his victims, which he thought so little of, gain a better life.

The things of which Savile is accused only have to achieve a 'balance of probability' test in the Civil Court....

As has already been stated, there will be thorough investigations made into the veracity of the claims now being put forwards.

I think the use of the word 'allegedly' can now be dispensed with when discussing Savile and his abuses; although it may be warranted when discussing individual cases.

Trigger......I do have sympathy for Savilles alleged victims but their abuser will never be brought to justice. He's got away with it and is 6 feet under sticking 2 fingers up at them all

If the compensation is awarded won't that mean the charities will suffer?
That would certainly compound any trauma I felt if I was a victim

Savile was good at raising money *for* charities..........he was less forthcoming with his own.

Half the charities that Saville represented are running away from any connection with him.

As I have said before unless you have been in their shoes you do not know why they chose to leave it 40 years before telling their story.

I am angry with the professionals that claim to have seen this happening but did nothing about it - the nurses that told children to pretend to be asleep and so on!!

At the end of the day children have been abused and if they can get a little compensation from that animal then good.

The point i was trying to make - that accusers can come forward 20,30,40 years after the event - should be a warning to potential abusers now, who think that they will never get caught, or that no one will believe their victims. It may just stop some abusers carrying through with their sick fantasies.

And you do not get to escape the consequences of your crimes if you die, especially if you are something of a celebrity. Proof of whether a crime was committed is not entirely dependent upon physical evidence or the presence of a defendant. It relies on a believable narrative from a plausible witness, with testimonial evidence that seems consistent and coherent.

Read the information about the disbursement of his will. The vast majority of his reported 4 million estate is being held in trust, against donations to some favoured charities. His family and nominated friends were actually due very little. proportionately speaking from his estate.

And in an event, their right to an inheritance comes second to offering some form of redress to those criminally harmed.
