Or in my case it should be No Speak Text!

Wouldn't it be nice if there was a polite note on the home page asking ABers to please try not to use text speak as it annoys the hell out of Robinia?!! - oops sorry got a bit carried away there - I mean as it really isn't necessary on here, & the more mature users haven't got a clue what it says. I don't suppose it will ever happen but I'm in grumpy mode today.

Robinia, it gets my goat too at times but what can you say, it seems to have been incorporated into everyday writing these days. It's the same in French. I understand that it is quick but sometimes it takes me the devil of a time to translate it. I must admit I worry about youngsters and spelling, how do you tell them "No it's not written like that" when writing CVs, letters of motivation and so on? My stepson is 25 and it is hellish trying to read something by him!
Gr8 idea Robinia!!!!

I quite agree with you Robinia! Thankfully, no one in our family uses text speak - including our 15 year old Granddaughter!

Whatever would our old school teachers think of it eh?!

neti u r a chky mnky!

It seems to be increasing on here & I'm a bit worried that there might be a lot of it in the new chat category when it arrives.  I think we'll have to install a lever that whooshes them down into the dungeon!

Artful - I'd never thought about text speak in other languages, it's bad enough in English!

And in Spanish, netibiza?

Our old school teachers smudge?  We'd have been told to take our slates & chalk and report at once to the Headmistress!! ;-)
Actually as Spanish is a phonetic language the text speak is quite easy to understand and do, but I am lost with the English.
I refuse to text other than in English. There's a chat page on Channel Four I used to contribute to and text speak was the norm. When "normal" words were used the standard of English depressed me. "I'm board...." what, you're a plank? "Wood" instead of would and as for there/they're/their forget it. I also refuse to use emoticons and LOL.

Whose leg are you pulling her, TCL. Text Speak maybe not but I hink perhps I cope
Damn and blast, I'm hiccuping again.
I was going to say TCL, Scots (?) is difficult too!
Artful fit?

pardon me, tcl?!

"fit?" means "what?" ken?

Love you too, TCL and I ken 'ken' - it's a start, isn't it?

But we are digressing to what certain might term as pure 'chat' so I'm awae (?) to bed!

Poor old Artful - I've decided to call the predicament "posting hiccups" (or hiccoughs if you prefer).  Naughty computer!!

HURRAH for the ban on txt spk.  It's totally lazy and very annoying.  It makes me automaticlly think the writer is stupid/illiterate.  THey probably aren't, but I can't help but think it!  Limited use of txt spk in texts is fine - saving characters saves pennies, but in typing!  Goodness this is a FREE information centre, typing properly costs nothing!!!

Neither does gratitude, but we don't get enough of that on here.  But I've whinged about that before.

Robinia - wonderful suggestion Ma'am!  HURRAH! :-D

PS - Any typos are not due to laziness, but to alcohol! sorry! *blush*

Artful, nearly- awa tae yir bed. Nicht
Gratitude, you want gratitude, acw: open your arms and I'll run right in! Yes 'posting hiccups', sud the hiccoughs and I'll get myself another glass of fruit juice!

I'll get there TCL.

Robinia you must be muttering certain things (other than in Text Speak I hope) getting all these automated mails, sorry!
