Every restauranteur I've ever met has referred to them as scallops.

Whao, with chorizo and black pudding? That sounds delicious.
Squid is lovely with chorizo.
Squid is lovely with scallops too... drizzled with lemon, black pepper, chillies and garlic butter and thrown in to some fresh pasta.
