/// 166,000 MIGRANTS GET JOBS AS 166,000 BRITONS PUT ON
DOLE ///

http://www.express.co...-Britons-put-on-dole-

While giving us the good news that unemployment overall fell by 35,000 in the three months to February, they conveniently forgot to tell us this bad news.

I wonder why this was?

It is the same figure but thete is no evidence that they are the same 166,000 jobs. Absolutely meaningless.
S you want employers to give jobs to poorer candidates if they're British?

That certainly will propell British companies into the premie league won't it?

Here's a radical idea why don't we let companies employ the best candidates regardless of their nationality?
Because the cost of having citizens on the dole has still to be met by the rest of us. If the foreign nationals are so good as a workforce let the British companies expand into their country as well and create even more jobs.
or is it that migrants will work for less pay, making it financially better to be unemployed and receiving benefits .
that's what they're doing, OG, hence all those Bangalore call centres.
put the jobs where the unemployment is,not worth moving home for work with no security
That's different jno. That's moving jobs from this country abroad, not starting up abroad as well. That's the problem with relying on a service industry instead of actually creating wealth, it can move elsewhere in an instant. It is also the problem with the free movement of labour, commercial companies simply play one population off against the other to achieve least cost, maximum work. I'm sure it's why what used to be known as Personnel, referring to valued people, is now-a-days admitted to be simply a resource for the company, humans at the best price you can get them.
“...why don't we let companies employ the best candidates regardless of their nationality?”

For once, jake, could not agree more. Just a couple of points, though:

As we have discussed previously you know that I consider the State education system in the UK to be an absolute shambles and it is churning out youngsters who are singularly ill-equipped for a life in work. (But they’ve all got ten ‘A’ Levels, nonetheless). Employers are thus faced with the choice of decently educated foreigners with a good work ethic or insufficiently educated UK youngsters who cannot get out of bed in the morning. (That is not just my opinion. People who know far more about this situation that I do, such as the heads of major employers, feel much the same).

The second problem (which is somewhat related to the first) is that a country which has to import labour whilst paying vast numbers of people already settled here considerable sums of cash to sit at home has completely lost its marbles.
Hear hear NJ and, for once,I agree with Gromit - apples and pears statistically here, AOG, apples and pears..........
If this coalition government really felt about jobs for the British they would not have exported jobs to Germany and the Far East for trains and ships respectively.
They will encourage the cheaper alternative every time and we know that an immigrant will nearly always take less wages for the same job.
The article says,

“Of course, statistics make things look stranger than they are, and the synchronised figures are a freak of those statistics”

A few days ago, anotheoldgit ,you said, "A few people on this site issue out the word "RACIST" when they have no idea what a true racist is. " and I asked you what do you though a racist was, any thoughts yet?
