There is discussion that if Scotland votes for independence they may have to start border controls . What are your views ? Seems daft to me, you can travel all over the EU without checks why should Scotland be diffrent?
..and PS Eddie, that's not strictly true - when we go down the road and get on a ferry to France, we still have to show our passports, same as we do at the airport for travel within Europe.
Scotland would not be any different. Although you have free movement within the EU you are still required to show your passport to prove that you are a citizen of an EU country.
You can trave between Northern Ireland and Eire without any ID at all , surely Scotland would be the same?
In any case on a practical level it would be impossible , there is 100s of miles of open country between England and Scotland , unless of course they take up boxtops suggestion and rebuild Hadrians wall .
They need the employment possibilites up in Scotland - and it would come under Public Services, Salmond's objective to have a 100% Public Service economy.
