Canada wouldn't be too bad but, if we're sticking to countries where English is spoken, I'd opt for Australia or India (although Boxtops' suggestion of Malta is also quite appealing).
However, assuming that I could get through the language barrier, I'd probably choose somewhere in eastern Europe, such as Slovakia, simply because of the friendliness of the people.

NZ is amazing.....was sounded out for a job there (Wellington) but it really is a little parochial - now if it had been Auckland I may have said yes. Stunning countryside, food/wine and the folk living there are very open and friendly - wonderful arts and crafts and the highest literary rate in the world (or used to be)
