There was something on the telly today suggesting that women like to go out with unattractive friends, because it make them look more attractive.
Is that really true??
Okay, I know that all ABers choose friends who are friendly, regardless of their looks, and that will probably kill the thread stone dead, as everyone fights over the moral high ground.
But ... isn't the opposite true? If you want to be attractive, aren't you better off in a group of good looking people? You look attractive by association.
I was always the ugly bird... supposed to sit looking after the bags and coats.... while they danced attractive but shy men come up and chat because they can't dance and you are non threatening.. or I would be the only female in group of gay men....
I used to have a 'friend' who was absolutely beautiful and the men came flocking. She actually was really boring and the blokes soon found out and then I got noticed and they stayed, so it was good really! I don't think I was unattractive, but certainly not beautiful like she was.
yes I am a bit stout [ to say the least] so I will only have my picture taken if the person next to me is bigger, I have been doing this for about 20 years, it started when I went to Disney Florida many moons ago and plenty of large ladies around.
Yeah, I've got a couple of friends like that, Lottie.
One of them is one of those women who look like they were designed by a man. The other one is a really pretty Chinese girl. When you're out with them, groups of guys all seem to be a bit closer than normal.
Sometimes, I just feel like saying ... Come on you lot, get it over with, say hello to my pals while I go and stand at the bar with a bag of crisps.
I am the unattractive friend compared to my lot! :c) I don't mind, I don't compare myself to them any more (we've been friends since we were teens so I reckon I was probably more insecure then), we all bring different things to the table and I know they've in the past envied my ability to chat freely with anybody whereas they don't feel confident doing that. There's no point in spending too much time worrying you're not as pretty/smarter/other positive attribute than someone else... there will always be someone who is better at something than you and people learn to make the best of what they have/are in my experience.
JJ, those who think that 'if you want to be attractive, aren't you better off in a group of good looking people? You look attractive by association.' are usually the ugly friend!! ;)
Just kidding!!! I've always spotted it though in my years behind the bar, those who do follow that rule are usually a bit messed up in the head (from my experience), the ones who hang out in gangs of good looking ones tend to be a bit less messed up but a bit more vain.
