I don't think that the Irish are any more gullible than anyone else. In fact, I would argue that collectively, they seem to have a deep distrust of their own politicians. However, Obama isn't one of their politicians – he's just a world famous leader who happens to have some distant links with the Emerald Isle.

And if there's one thing the Irish love, it's their history... and their Guinness.

Given Ireland's current financial state, anything that might give their economy a boost will be welcomed with open arms.
"he's just a world famous leader who happens to have some distant links with the Emerald Isle. "

alledgedly...............a phrase with the word gullible springs to mind !!

Seems to me he's started campaigning exceedingly early.

Seen it, heard it, many, many, many times before; and I’m still waiting for the proof of the pudding.

Hmm all these Americans that want to be some other nationality :-)
he's as Irish as John Aldridge, Jason McAteer and Clinton Morrison! Jack Charlton would have had him in at right back!
The Irish are so gullible, just look on your own doorstep for that quality. We have just witnesed a royal wedding & the hype that produced.
As birdie says the irish have a bit more about their history than most. They remember the difficulties of the 19thC & the help the US gave them unlike the land owing British that gave them cattle food from India to live on.
Hence one of the reasons the British monarch was well protected earlier.
He wasn't in that car.

I think he was well protected.

As for gullible. "The US president is buying free drinks in the pub for a photo opportunity" I should be so gullible.
Are yes, the help the septics gave them. Like funding the IRA perhaps ?
Youngflog Why do you tend to go on a tangent when you disagree with the debate in hand. The post was based on Gullibility not the IRA.

OK then if you knew any Irish History you might have a better understanding as to why certain events, which you despise, occured.
Any more 'keyboard' warriors want to have a pop at the Irish? I'm half Irish, so c'mon..take a pop at me..why dont cha!!!!!!

Cheesus people.... let it go!!
Yes we are gullible trt I still believe there is a leprechaun and a pot of gold at the end of every rainbow!
