If Scotland were to obtain their Independence from the rest of the UK, would it mean that we could no longer be called the United Kingdom?

Would our flag have to change?

Would we once again, become England in our own right, and the Queen would she be called the Queen of England, Wales and Northern Ireland?

But have the Scots realised how they would afford to bail out such institutions as the Royal Bank Of Scotland, without the English taxpayer's money?

Scotland will never become independent. The majority of Scots know which side their bread's buttered. They aren't called 'canny' for nothing.

DC said if there was a referendum he would strive to keep the Union.
Well he might but would the English ? Every Englishman I have spoken to says they would vote for Scottish independance but every Scot has said they would vote against it. On that basis they would get the Independance they don't want .
I don't think the referendum will be held in England.
We would still have a Union, just it would be a quarter smaller. The Union Jack does include the St Andrew flag, But on the otherhand, does not include any elements of the welsh flag, dragon, green etc. So we could retain the flag as it is even if Scotland left because it is not wholly accurate anyway. And we can have whatever we like on it.

If a new design was to be needed, you can bet they would open it up as a Blue Peter competition for the under 11s.
all prtetty academic really, if they stay in the EU then they wont have any independence.

Just like the the rest of the Uk they will be governed and ruled by the Superstate of Europe

So the last 13 years wasn't Blair and Brown's fault.
I liked Blair. He had an air of "resigned to fate" and "stiff upper lip" that I can only admire.
lol @ Cowtipper..................Blairs lip could tremble for England.
