Anyone else find the NO campaign disgusting? Exploiting Afghan heroes is stooping very low.

"He needs bullet proof vests not an alternative voting system".

Acceptable or crass?

With a more accurate and representative voting system we might not have troops stuck in the afghan mess in the first place.

True, but that is not the posters message. Not sure what the posters message is? What is the connection between a soldier short of equipment, and a change to our voting system.

Reminds me of the "Vote for me or the puppy gets it" campaign.

No Gromit, I don't think it is exploiting our heroes.

If that is how much they are spending on the referendum (250 million) then I am sure if there was a vote amongst our fighting forces, 'do you want this money to be spent on better equipment or a paltry vote', one can guess what the result would be.
I find it quite distasteful. However, as many have commented it nearly beyond parody...

...or is it?

Is there any way of finding out quite how these 'costs' are calculated ?

£250m on............shiny new ballot boxes ?........new voting slips (which are different every time we vote, anyway) ? erm..............?

AOG

I always thought you were in favour of referendums.

The cost didn't come into it when you wanted one on Europe?
You may find the 'no' campaign to be disgusting Gromit, but don't you think the 'yes' campaign is even more disgusting?

It is a little dubious JTH.

As I've said here: http://www.theanswerb.../Question1003724.html

The only reform I am interested in is one of the House of Lords into an elected house. I would support AV or even Direct PR (even a party-list) there.

All the best,

Spare
Yep, looks dodgy on all sides AOG!
I am all in favour of a referendum on Europe, but if it was weighed against our troops going short then forget it.

But the more minor issue on a method of voting for a political party, then that is of a much less importance, and if it meant even one less rifle then there would be no contest.
So they are "Our" heroes are they now Gromit? Normally you *** them off yourself over the slightest thing but now they help your case you are more than happy to exploit them! Rock on!

This is merely pointing out that spending the money on body armour rather than a change that hardly changes anything so we can keep the libdems happy would be preferable.

Well put.
It isn't an either-or. That is a nonsense argument.

There are lots of budgets. The military have a huge budget by international standards - how they choose to allocate it is their concern.

An outcome from the election was this referendum takes place. Although it should be administered as cost efficiently as possible it is a potentially big issue in our country's history of government.

If the death of a few hundred servicemen is also such a big issue we shouldn't be in afghanistan or anywhere else people might be killed.
No good me playing my ace Gromit if you are not going to challenge it.

Sorry AOG, I've been out all afternoon.

Admittedly, That too is also bad. Especially as Benjamin Zephania is a great performance poet.

Though I am not sure it is your Ace Card, unless you think offending a poet is more repulsive than exploiting serving soldiers.

Charlie Brooker did this on 10 o'clock live on Channel 4 last Thursday - there are a series of adverts. You can see the whole episode here: http://www.channel4.c...lock-live/4od#3175136
Shady tactics all the same Gromit, but I think you should leave it to those you are suggesting of being exploited, to state if they do feel exploited in any way.

Incidentally Gromit, I don't care for your latest Avatar, unless you like hanging around with a certain crowd?
Am I alone in thinking that football is a game for grown ups and not the more sensitive types
