One more example of discrimination against whites.

Is it any wonder schemes such as these only fan the flames of racial division?

/// A Cabinet Office spokesman said: ‘We think the Civil Service should represent the people we serve and we make no apology for that. Selection for permanent positions is available to all and is always based on fair and open competition.’ ///

Yes, and they expect us to believe that also?

Because, as I suggested AOG, that is "different".

Rojash thinks that discrimination is perfectly acceptable if its aim is “...to alter the socio-ethnic balance in an organisation and open it to all...” Apart from the fact that there is no absolute need to enforce such a change, as far as I know (until this policy was launched, that is) recruitment to the police force was open to all. The fact that some groups chose not to enlist is hardly the fault of the police. They offer good pay and conditions for people wanting to do that work and do not suffer from recruiting problems generally.

As for sp, he has moved the debate on from discussing a discriminatory recruitment policy to comparing white straight males to Katie Price (whoever she might be). He furthers his cause by suggesting that the same people set out regularly to kill gay men by stamping on their heads because, apparently, they are “at the top of the game”

Methinks we’ve gone as far as we can!
Why do people who disagree with certian opinions then try to insult their opponents by accussing them of being a Daily Mail reader? Why is being a Daily Mail reader considered by some as an insult? Is it because the majority who read this paper are white, law abiding tax payers therefore prime candidates for abuse?
AOG

You're talking nonsense.

You are the one who constantly plays the race card. "It's soooo unfair...etc etc"

Would you like me to embarrass you by searching through your last 20 posts?

You have the biggest chip on your should ever. It can be seen from the orbiting space station on a clear night.

Why are you like this?

Seriously.

You are the one who posts links to sites which propose that blacks are intellectually inferior to whites.

You are the one who is obsessed with race...but if anyone challenges you, you cry foul.

Why is this?

Why is it, that when someone challenges your ill-informed posts, they become the racist? Do you think that anyone buys it?

You know that we can see through you? You should be proud of your thick skin. It should serve you well in life, but I assure you - you're really, really, really, really not fooling anyone.

Me want to be a straight White male? If it left me as bitter as some I could mention - then thank God I'm not!
David....even the woman on 'The Chase' had a little dig at Daily Mail readers yesterday :-)

SP - careful...he'll refuse to correspond with you...
Let me try (once again) to explain what this internship is trying to address...

As we all know - there are bigots within public bodies who want nothing more than to keep the status quo. Let's call them 'Truemays' (has a nice ring to it).

Now, unfortunately, there are a number of these elderly truemays who silently exercise their bigotry, and will keep on doing so.

What these internships, which are for people from ethnic minorities and socially deprived backgrounds are trying to redress, is this silent bigotry.

How else can we counter the effects of the sneaky little truemays and their equally nasty apologists?

Should universities be banned from setting aside places for students from poor backgrounds?

Should we stop encouraging women to enter the field of maths and science (traditionally seen as 'male' subjects)?

What can we do to redress the balance? We can't rid ourselves of truemays, but shouldn't we have policies in place to counter their antiquated views?

Because the Daily Mail tends to promote divisive issues, the fear of things that either do not exist or do not exist to the extent that the Mail, wants people to believe, it can have an unhealthy attitude to women and minorities and it employs the waste of space that is Liz Jones.

You wrote:

"What would haver been your attitude if SIX, yes only SIX people from white middle class backgrounds will be able to secure internships"

But that's the whole point - what is it that you don't understand??? How can I explain it to you?

If you're white and middle class and able-bodied, you have the cards stacked in your favour. How many kids from grammar school in Cheltenham find it difficult getting into university, and then on to well paid jobs?

Are they struggling?

Is it a level playing field?

Seriously - is that what you think?

Choose any story from the Daily Mail, then have a look at the comments field.

Then you'll understand why 'Daily Mail reader' is the modern equivalent of 'Sun reader'.

They are thicker than a whale omelette.
ummmm - sp should do what I do with regard to refusing to correspond with AOG - get in first like I did!

He still keeps trying to provoke me, so if it keeps him happy ...
It does make me laugh. He provokes a reaction and then when losing an argument he says he doesn't want to speak to you anymore...

He reminds me of my 12 year old...
"Rojash thinks that discrimination is perfectly acceptable if its aim is “...to alter the socio-ethnic balance in an organisation and open it to all...” Apart from the fact that there is no absolute need to enforce such a change, as far as I know (until this policy was launched, that is) recruitment to the police force was open to all. Marvellous NJ. First you quote only part of what I said, completely changing its meaning, and then argue against a point that I didn't make. The point I was making was if you change the scheme, and open it to all, it becomes a pointless scheme. I wasn't claiming that the scheme opens recruitment to all.

As you say, recruitment is open to all, but if you are not getting the recruits you want, you put in place a scheme to attract those that you do want. The police want more people from ethnic minorities so they target them with what is effectively an advertising policy (come and try it, see if you like it).

If you have a company with a shortage workers of a particular type, you target them in a recruitment drive. I've yet to hear anyone complain that a drive for (say) motor mechanics is unfair in that it discriminates against those of us who don't know a spanner from a wrench.
Ummm

I expect your 12 year old has the better reasoning skills and a greater ability to engage with and understand others' points of view
No he doesn't....he storms out and slams the door...and shout that he hates us all!!!! lol
Quite similar, then................? :o)
ummm - if you recall, I actually defnded AOG a couple of weeks ago because I thought he was receivng unjustified hostility - then he turns on me and accuses me of being 'likee everyone else' in attacking him because i disagreed with a point he made!

There really is no way to win, exept by tacit agreement, and given some of the comments posted, i find that impossible.
Yes let's start a campaign to end these restrictive 'politically correct' practices.

Let's swamp the Day Centres 'reserved' for old people with teenagers who have had their youth clubs closed.

Let's gatecrash all those rehab centres for the disabled. Why should those of us in the hard-done-by white middle classes miss out on basket weaving classes and hydrotherapy pools.
.
Hold on a minute, Andy...............

I'm trying to decide if you are being 'offensive' or 'aggressive'...or are you multi-tasking and doing both ? :o)
If you want a balanced and truthful view on any subject, don't read the Daily mail.
If you like a good old gossip and getting worked up over nothing, then carry on reading it.
Andy ...

LOL

I told you you were 'tolerant to a fault' didn't I?

:-)
Andy...yes, I read it. I actually do wonder at times how you manage a dignified response.

I have defended AOG on many occasions...and I will continue to do so because without him the 'news' section would be dull.

I don't agree with most of what he says/posts but sometimes I do feel that the Site Rules are relaxed when it comes to the slagging off of AOG. If it happened in another section of the site there would be suspensions galore....

Jack - Just like him :-)
