if they were on benefits but making a few pound here and there by helping others out?
Im a painter and decorator by trade but for various reasons (as many of you know) Im unable to work as such. Today I have worked an eleven hour day....started at 8 this morning and finished at 7 tonight....for someone who was quoted £200 for a decorating job (and out of their budget) and asked them for £30. (they give me 40). They were delighted with finally been able to get a much needed decorating job done and I was equally delighted to be able to get the money for a new pair of shoes.
Just interested in other peoples thoughts.
Thank you.

I don't have a view on what you should or shouldnt be doing but if you are going to do it, then i wouldn't be discussing it anywhere, least of all online!
I wouldn't turn anyone in for working whilst they were on benefits.
I don't think I would employ them if I knew they were on benefits, though.
In your case nailit or someone like you no I wouldn't.

You mean AB is not anonymous :-(
For £40 not a chance. it's the people doing it big style and regularly that deserve being dropped in it, especially those falsely claiming incapacity benefits.
No...not in your circs.

Best of luck to you Mate!
people have been tracked down and identified who thought they were posting on here anonymously nailit. Its not usual or easy but if I were you I wouldn't take chances :(
No Nailit, that sounds as if you were doing a favour for a friend
And when we pay mates for favours we don't call it wages we call it a drink.
I can't really argue with you Nailit. You are doing whatever you need to do.

A bit late now woof Im afraid. if anyone's so petty to track me down for 30 quid then good luck to them. As ummmm said, its not wages, its a drink.
Nailit...all the same, I would be cautious if I were you !

ummmm

Exactly what I call it to.
I would NEVER drop anyone in it,keep doing what you are doing,at least you are working and helping others. Good Luck to you.
Well, we're all in it together then!

One of the reasons that I asked is that some years ago I had a mate who was an out of work plumber for a time and he would work his backside off to help people out and charge them peanuts (sometimes not at all if it was a minor job) and someone dobded him in it although nothing came of it and he eventually got employment again.
Just seems as though there are some spiteful people about.
well if psybbs is in a silky, slinky number, you can drop me in it too.......not yours, though, nailit.
