You may take our lands
You may take our oil
You may take anything you can lay your hands on
But you will never take us seriously
That's why we don't like you
Sorry, just spent a few days in England (nice people really, just glad to get home)
I take it neither of you have had to put up with being treated as a second class citizen in your own country, by supposedly your own media for your entire life then? No? You should try it, it's wonderful for the self esteem.
No problem. I'm from Manchester and we get a ribbing from just about everyone. If we're not portrayed in the media as whippet owning, pigeon fancying, flat cap wearing, violent, knuckle dragging Neanderthals, then it's a bonus.
Doesn't it just? The London-centric press can be infuriating. Remember the fuel shortages in early 2000? Scotland was hit first – no news in the mainstream media [MM]. Then the shortages spread south and eventually hit Manchester. No news in the MM. Then they hit Birmingham and... no news in the MM. The BBC Six O'Clock news – nothing whatsoever...
Then the fuel crisis hit the southern counties and London and would you believe it... all hell broke loose! The MM went berserk. The fuel crisis was the headline story for over a week.
They completely 'forgot' to mention that this fuel shortage had been happening for weeks before it started to affect those outside of the M25.
This post was originally meant to be more of a joke but...
MarkRae - you could improve upon your grammar - "For what are you apologising"
karenmac60 - nice tae be hame hen.
chaptazbru - I don't think I've ever met you either, with a piece of good fortune the status quo will prevail.
Birdie1971 - I don't think you could find one of your friends anywhere - harsh? - no, only joking.
