Can anyone remember a Star Trek episode where the crew of The Enterprise discover a ship in deep space with a strange name on the side of it & it turns out to be a partially covered name & it is a ship that was lost years ago ?

The very first ST movie was about a menace to the earth which turned out to be a lost satellite named veeger (Which then turned out to be Voyager)
Yep watched it last night, oddly enough.

Star Trek the motion picture, all about V'Ger that urns out to be Voyager, lauched 300 years previously.

Or possibly it's Botany Bay, from Space Seed in the original series, or even the susequent rediscover of that ship on Seti Alpha 5 in "The Wrath Of Khan".
