Thanks for taking the time for reading my post.

Obviously I now think I have been ripped off, but then why would someone bother contacting me to offer a refund if they were intending to rip me off.

Please can someone advise what option are available to me? Maybe someone knows how I can find out some contact details for this company.

Any advice would be most appreciated.

Did you pay twice by credit card?
I think it may well be a bit soon to conclude that you have been ripped off.

As you paid via Paypal, log into your Paypal account and look at the details page for each of these payments. If a refund is being processed it waill say so.

If not then go to Paypal's Resolution Centre and file a dispute for an item not received for each of the payments.

This is not guaranteed to get you your money back, but it is what you should do first.

If that fails get onto your Credit Card company and ask them if they will do "chargebacks" for each of the payments.

Incidentally, if you are making a Paypal payment and it appears to have not completed you should always check what it says in your Paypal account before you can be sure that the payment has not completed.

Hi ummm & Rollo, Many thanks for your answers.

ummmm, it does look as though I paid twice via credit card, I just thought the first payment did not happen as my PC crashed whilst trying to make the payment.

I will give it a few more days to see if the refund happens, and if not I will try the Paypal resolution centre.
Hope it works out. I agree with Rollo that it may be a bit soon, so maybe you should wait until Friday then query it.
Like others, I wouldn't panic too much just yet.

However, I was slightly concerned that you stated that the website (which is currently down) only offered an email address for contacting the company. It's illegal for UK businesses to trade on the internet without providing a postal address. (That address though is often only on, say, a 'terms and conditions' page, so it doesn't always immediately leap out at site visitors).

However Essencia doesn't seem to be 'deliberately hidden' in the way that some 'iffy' websites are. The name and address of the guy who registered the site name are (as the law requires for businesses) easy to find:
http://webwhois.nic.uk/cgi-bin/whois.cgi?query =essencia.org.uk&WHOIS+Submit.x=0&WHOIS+Submit .y=0

David Thomas appears to live on a housing estate just outside Bridgend. The phone number (somewhat surprisingly) isn't ex-directory. BT directories lists K R H Thomas as the account holder at that address. The phone number is (01656) 647620.

So, if you experience difficulties, you know who to hassle! ;-)

The person named as registrant of the website holds the right to use that specific domain name but need not be a part of the business.

hello 36teak36

have you reported this at all? or have you received your goods now? or even been reimbursed....

I seem to have the same problem with the essencia lingerie website. I have paid with paypal and not recieved the goods and am now concerned this is a scam. i would appreciate any info you have on how to report this and to whom!

I have already raised a dispute on the PayPal website as previously advised by Rollo, but not sure where to go after that!

Hope you have had better luck!
